A most intriguing job application...

1513 AD, Lorenzo d'Medici of Florence takes on Niccolo Machiavelli on as an advisor after reading "The Prince".

What do you think would happen? I see Machiavelli becoming a intriguer like Walsingham.

Though my knowledge of 1500's Italy is a bit rusty.

Machievelli was known as an opposer to Medici, hence why he get jailed, tortured and banished outside the city.

While he dedicated the book to Lorenzo II, it was more about "Can I return? I sware I like you now" than a real dedication to a dynasty that definitely crushed his political ambitions and ideas at this point.
And Lorenzo wasn't exactly a fool : to harbour one of the leaders of the anti-Medici revolution that ousted them out of the city for years...

Critically when the book is about "How to get rid of antiquated and moralist conception of politics, and see the world as it's actually", when Lorenzo depended quite importantly from pontifical (Medici, that said) support.

I don't really think I'd see it happen...
