Tlahuicole was a captured Tlaxcallan prisoner of war who impressed the Aztec leader Montezuma with his fighting that he allowed him to live and offered him to command Aztec soldiers to fight against the Tarascans. He led the Aztecs into victory. Montezuma offered to make Tlahuicole an official member of the Aztec nobility but the man refused, saying that accepting it would be betraying his people. He instead begged for Montezuma to allow himself to be ritually sacrificed, not before killing several of the Empire's best knights.

What if he did accept Montezuma's offer? Mind you, this was just a few years prior to Cortes' arrival onto the mainland and the thought of him commanding the Mexica against the Spaniards sounds pretty damn fun.
