A Military Response to The Iranian Revolution under President Ford

First off this starts off with President Ford being elected in 1976. I believe this POD is too late to stop the Iranian Revolution.

In early 1979, several flights were organized to get Americans out of Iran. On February 17, A Pan Am Boing 707 landed at Tehran Airport. For eight hours, more than a hundred passengers had to wait as armed guerrillas debated on procedures and searched identification papers, documents, and luggage.

Now let’s say something goes wrong, and the passengers are shot at, some killed, many injured, and taken hostage. American lives have been lost, and though Vietnam is still fresh in everyone’s mind, it seems to me that military action would be considered and probably carried by a second Ford administration (Ford won the election in a squeaker and didn’t win the popular vote.)

So in short, what happens now?
