A medieval islamic Europe ?

I'm not sure how feasible this is, but what about framing this as a caliphate of cordoba- wank? If I remember around 1000 they were the most technologically advanced and wealthiest city in Europe. What if they conquered the proto-spanish in Asturias and then went on to discover the new world and take on the role of OTL Spain? They could end up subjugating the rest of Europe later...

Cordoba could found a 'reformed' Islam tolerant of eating pigs and then use this advantage over northern Europe...

The mongol conquest in the east could be the incentive for the discovery of the new world. Cordoba looking for a trade route that bypasses the mongols?

Two problems with that, Castille, Leon and several other kingdoms were already around at this point, a lot harder to vanquish then Asturias.
Secondly, the Emirate/Caliphate of Cordoba was almost always dealing with tribal revolts and such, due to the system of the Caliphate itself.
Only a ruler like Abd ar-Rahman I or III could really ever keep the whole of Al-Andalus under control. The Caliphate of Cordoba, despite being a cool state, was practically a house built on sand.

The Almoravids that came afterwards perhaps could be wanked (essentially becoming the ottoman empire ITTL) but by then an Islamic Europe is impossible. (Outside of an uber plague, that would itself effect Al-Andalus).
