A Less Divided World

After the Scramble for Africa in which Europeans basically chopped up Africa into their empires, the world was in a situation where not that many sovereign nation-states had existed. The fall of the Central Powers in WWI, rapid decolonization after WWII, and the dissolution of the Soviet Union basically fragmented these empires/superstates into the hundreds of sovereign nation-states that exist today.

Now here are my questions:

-1. After the Scramble for Africa, is there any way that Europe could have held on to their possessions to the point where they still don't have sovereignty to this day? They don't have to be strictly colonial.

-2. If this is possible how can they achieve it? Which of the European nations would likely keep their possessions to this day compared to others.

NOTE: And yes, I know that the Soviet Union could have survived until today so I would like to keep the focus on the other European colonial nations.

Your first post and it's this coherent, thought-out, and interesting?

WELCOME!

Off hand, I can't think of a way for any European country to hold onto its entire empire, but I imagine that some could have held more than OTL (take France, for example, where French Guyana is literally a part of France proper). You'd have to move some native colonization around, I think, but having a few more European countries with off-continent holdings (or larger holdings) wouldn't be impossible.

Two things ,firstly remove WW1.. Secondly invest in the colonies especially in Africa dont just use them as resource areas and dumping grounds for unwanted third sons.Do this early ,do this consistently and the benefits of remaining in the empire are apparent to the native inhabitents. so that a loose federation/ trading pact is formed and the empire is dissolved
How you are going to remove WW1 I dont know
Good luck:)
