Emperor Alfonso’s father, Raymond, was the third son of the Count of Burgundy.
His eldest brother died in the Crusades without issue and his second eldest brother then became Count before passing it on to his son who would go on to die with only a daughter who is now betrothed to Fernandu, Eleanor’s second son.
