A King remarries and sires heirs as a POD

A Monarch remarries and sires heirs as a POD

I was thinking of having a Monarch that in OTL did not have heirs which caused a succession crisis have his wife die before him and have him remarry to a young woman, would this POD be effective or not?

The Monarch that I was talking about is Leszek the Black who predeceased his wife and is one of the reasons why the Czech king, Wenceslaus II claimed the Polish throne.

Leszek Czarny (the Black) wasn't a king, only a prince. If you wanted a king, you should have gone with Vladislaus I The Elbow-High, his brother, and speeded up his ascension to the throne.

In general, I'd say yes. If the King has a son, then there are chances the son is considered as heir as per dynastic rule.

Now, it all depends on the political situation. If the King is weak in power, if there is a strong counter-claimant or if the son is underaged when his father dies, then it's possible complications arise and the succession crisis isn't completely avoided.

Being not well versed in Polish History, I can't really say much about the consequences for Poland.

It could happen many times.

For instance, in British/English history

William IV

Charles II

Richard III

Richard II

In Austrian history

Franz Josef

It did happen in England, when James II remarried and begot a Catholic son, though ironically that precipitated rather than avoided a succession crisis.
