A Jacobean Churchill

I'm not going to go into detail with this opening post in this thread, I'm just going to ask one questions: What if John Churchill, the later Duke of Marlborough, remained loyal to King James II of England in stead of supporting William of Orange?
 
What other skilled generals did Britain have in the wings for the wars to come? I can't see him being a very important figure at the time (how influential were the Churchills, realistically), but his absence later may be felt. If the Brits fight like the Dutch, Louis XIV might just win this one.
