As we know the Spanish civil war was a conflict between a huge gamma of left wing movements against a huge gamma of right wing movements, with the recognized government of the Spanish republic fighting the rebel nationalist forces, that went from monarchists to conservatives, fascists, and the list goes on, while the republicans had the support from social democrats all the way to Stalininsts.

But what if...

What if the civil war was inverted, the PoD is that the monarchists win the 1931 spanish referendum (due a electoral fraud). Thus Aphonso XIII remains in power, allbeit with little support, and this leads to the left sparking the civil war. What could change on this scenario? The first thing that comes to my mind is that Franco hardly would have the same position as he did OTL, he most likely would remain a general, while the King would be seem as the legitimate government against the left wing rebels. What about the foreign intervention? And if the left wins, would Spain turns into a left wing dictatorship or into a left wing inclined republic?
