A/H Challenge: Krampus

Is there any way to make Krampus as important to the christmas traditions of the USA as Santa Claus. Better, yet, make him vastly more important :)

Fits in with some denominations

Some branches of christianity seem to focus much more on punishment--Hellfire and Damnation, etc--than on any sort of reward. I'm thinking that Krampus would fit in with those people--yet another source of punishment for those who don't toe the line.

This Krampus is a Austro-Bavarian Alpine folklore
Original a Demon/Devil, who during the 5 December, punishes children who have misbehaved, While Saint Nicholas rewards the well-behaved with gifts.

So Austro or Bavarian emigrants could bring tradition of Krampus and Saint Nicholas to USA
The locals could replace Saint Nicholas by Santa Claus, instead he bringing coal to children who have misbehaved, now the Krampus deal with them.
