A Greater Northwest Conspiracy

What if the Copperheads in Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio had succeeded in inciting protest against the Lincoln administration?

I dont see that scenario as very likely, New England would not secede from the Union, it would make the New England States- the birth of Federalism- look like hypocrites. I also dont see Texas going its own way, I mean it happens in almost every CSA scenario, but Texas was simply not the powerhouse it was in the 20th century to survive alone. The CSA would have crushed it.

I can see the Northwest seceding and causing the USA to lose, but the United States would not simply fall apart.

Oh, true its probably not likely. However, there is a good indication that without the ACW the regional differences between the Northwest, South and Northeast could have made things interesting. There is very little space given to the problems and fears the Old Northwest had with free negros.

I based the ATL more on an entry from book What-Ifs of American History, or something close to that. I sort of doubt that Texas would have seek independence from the Confederacy.
