A Good DCEU: A Collaborative TL

June 14th, 2013: Man of Steel, the first film in the DC Extended Universe, a cinematic shared universe project, is released into theaters. Directed by Matthew Vaughn of X-Men: First Class fame and starring relative unknown James Wolk as Superman and Joaquin Phoenix as the megalomaniac General Zod, the film receives largely positive reviews for its fresh re-imaging of the titular character, engaging story with a strong mix of action, humor and emotional gravitas and its solid action-sequences and set pieces, earning a Rotten Tomatoes Certified Fresh score of 91%. The film grosses $364 million in the United States and $897 million worldwide.

July 6th, 2013: Warner Bros. announces the next film in the planned DCEU; Batman vs. Superman. Set to be released in the summer of 2015, it will feature Superman facing off against the Dark Knight due to a misunderstanding engineered by the notorious criminal business mastermind Lex Luthor. Bradley Cooper is set to play Batman, while producers eye J.K Simmons for Lex Luthor.

March 2nd, 2014: At the 86th Academy Awards, Man of Steel wins the award for Best Visual Effects and also receives nominations in Best Cinematography and Best Sound Editing.

I would suggest a DCEU Batman film next (maybe based on the aftermath of the Killing Joke), rather than alt-BvS, which is what Snyder wanted in the first place, followed by Batman vs. Superman, and then followed by Dawn of Justice (in the vein of the first Avengers film).

October 7th, 2014: The Flash TV series premieres. Although originally conceived as a spinoff from Arrow, the show became the launching point for an effort to tie the Arrowverse in with the DCEU in terms of continuity. Greg Gustin's Barry Allen is later confirmed to play the same role in the DCEU's Justice League film.

In addition to tying characters and the like together under the same umbrella, I'm thinking a meta-plot would also provide good direction so individual films can be paced properly in terms of what they need to be doing. Gradual foreshadowing and buildup to a Darkseid invasion in a Justice League sequel, or the like, with some other threat filling in for the first Justice League movie.

October 10 2014 - Producers sign JK Simmons to play Commissioner Gordon in Batman V. Superman. They also sign Doctor Who star Matt Smith to play Lex Luthor. Casting for Wonder Woman is still ongoing.

No. JK Simmons is playing Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman. There is also no Wonder Woman or Doomsday in this version of Batman vs. Superman. Wonder Woman will still get her solo movie before Justice League.

October 13th, 2013: Batman vs. Superman is delayed for 2016 in favor of a solo Batman film starring Bradley Cooper as Batman and Christian Bale as the Joker. Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad fame is eyed for the role of Commissioner James Gordon. The film is set for release in 2015. Darren Aronofsky is scheduled to direct the project.

Starring Bradley Cooper as Bruce Wayne, it features Wayne at the height of his career, battling against the chaotic and psychotic Joker, portrayed by former Batman actor Christian Bale. The film receives greatly positive reviews for its dark, yet engaging plot, action sequences, the eeriely charming depiction of Gotham City and the shocking twist, earning an 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. It grosses $403 million in the United States and $1.023 billion worldwide.

Sorry, but I'm ignoring your retcon.
Dude...No offense, but you're being kinda control-freaky. I mean, I have OCD, so I get it, but still. Why not just write your own TL. That said, @putasidedevil you should probably ask before making a retcon next time. Part of the point of a Collab TL is that you have to work with whatever people have already put.

July 15th, 2016: Suicide Squad premieres in theaters. The film focuses on the exploits of Task Force X, a team of supercriminals conscripted into service by the US government, as they infiltrate the Middle Eastern nation of Bialya. The country's monarch, Queen Bee, has apparently been in contact with unidentified extraterrestrial forces, and the government wants any evidence that can be found, as well as any technology she may have received from her contacts. The mission is a mixed success, as Deadshot (Will Smith) kills Queen Bee to prevent her escaping through a Boom Tube, and the Enchantress (Catherine Zeta-Jones) destroys Bee's Mother Box, reasoning that the existence of such technology is an impediment to magic-users ruling the world. Nevertheless, the Task Force still retrieves evidence suggesting that Queen Bee was cooperating with a planet known as Apokolips, whose motives and interest in Earth are unknown at this time.

Oh man, this TL is really a sweet deal for me

July 19, 2016: Justice League is announce to be set for a release in late 2018. Later Nightwing and Young Justice films are to be released no later than 2020.

(OOC: Guess Wonder Woman's OTL performance IMO should be kept.)

2016: Release of Batwoman on CBS. Starring Krysten Ritter as Batwoman/Kate Kane and Naya Rivera as Renee Montoya/The Question, the show enjoys solid success. It is particularly popular with LGBT audiences.

Fans point in particular to the 'low-tech' feel, with Batwoman relying on improvised, home-made weaponry and gadgets as opposed to Batman's high-tech arsenal.

I'm guessing we're transitioning towards a more classic JLA lineup, rather than the OTL New 52 one.

June 2017: Aquaman is released, starring Jason Momoa. The film concerns Arthur Curry's journey towards finding the truth about his half-Atlantean heritage, and his eventual confrontation with his oppressive half-brother, King Orm of Atlantis.
