A Gloomy Peace

The future site of my first proper historical TL

A teaser:

September 22 1931

The maid had found him slumped over the bed when she came in to take down the dirty laundry. A pistol was in his hand and a bullet in his brain. On the dresser he had left a note reading as follows (and here put into English): ‘Geli is dead. How can I continue on.’

Adolph Hitler, who to thousands of Germans had embodied the dream of a strong, renewed Germany…was dead.

June 20 1947

Hermann Goering sat at the head of a long table covered with rich food. The men before him (old comrades of the German Front, some he had even known back in the Nazi days) were clearly enjoying themselves, indicated by the shouting, laughter and general prating about one found among semi-drunkards. The President’s birthday may have been yesterday but the party hadn’t really stopped yet.

He called attention and received it within a matter of about 3 minutes. He began to speak:

“My old friends. Today is truly a great day for all Germans. Our beloved President’s birthday is cause enough for celebration but other wondrous news has come to my ears and perhaps also to yours. Two days ago, the city of Moscow was liberated from the communist scourge by our troops and those of our proud allies. The accursed hammer and sickle has fallen and the flag of the German people has been raised high over the Kremlin. Gentleman…the war is over. Communism is as good as dead!”

A great roar of cheering went up. Goering sat back down, smiled and promptly got back to shoving a large pork pie in his mouth.

It would be interesting to know how things got from point 1931 to point 1947...
I must have missed this one when it was first posted.

Well, I never thought I would want Hitler to not kill himself, thats for sure.

As Hitler killed himself in 1931, what happens in the next few years? Does the Second WW look anything like OTL WWII? Does the Holocaust still happen?

I agree.
It's really interesting but I kinda wanna know who "their allies" are :D and how it all came to that

How would that fat drug addictted clotting imbecile rise to power over his rivals ? Without Herr Shinkelgruber the NSDP is toast with most f not all of it's adherents leaving the party to form several others. Goerring was niether a well spoken nor charismatic man how he achieved said power would be rather interesting in the least.

I would want to see more!

Maybe something about the civil war and how it escalates into this? Without Adolf, the Nazi's are unable to send larger amounts of Aid and the Soviets start piling it on, scaring the world, etc.

I councur. I fully concur!

Who's saying that Goering is in power? He's just throwing a larger than average party and perhaps he has a bit of money tucked away but he is certainly not high up the ladder in this Germany.

As for Germany's 'allies' let us just say it will be hard to find any enemies of Germany. ;)

I'm surprised no one has asked about who the 'President' is. You didn't all think it was Goering did you?

Certainly not. He said 'out beloved President's birthday', which doesn't sound like something a even remotely sane person would say about himself.
The German Front...
