A Germany Disunited

I had an idea for an alternate timeline, where Germany splits up after WWI. After doing some research I decided that the split takes place in 1912, with William Jennings Bryan dying to a heart attack, resulting in all of his delegates voting for Champ Clark, thus Clark wins the Convention, and the RNC chooses Woodrow Wilson for VP. In 1916 Clark/Wilson win reelection and the United States does not enter WWI. The German Revolution is far more brutal in TTL, with several states, Hanover, Bavaria, and Eastern Prussia, breaking off. Ultimately the German states end up joining Prussia, with the exceptions of Hesse, Baden, Wurttemberg, Alsace, and Bavaria, which all remain independant.

The Austro-Hungarian Empire ends up splitting into Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia. Hungary keeps Transylvania, and Austria keeps Slovenia.

So do I get it right, Germany somehow wins WWI (you mention Alsace as German state) and still tumbles into all out revolution?

Sorry to say, but if Germany won, whatever definition you use, then I can see far left aggitators trieing to stir up trouble. But without the hopeless situation it should keep somewhat calm. Also the chaotic, free for all of OTL is Imo unlikely as the state apparatus will be more intact and coherent.

So protests for more power for the Parlianment, implementing the changes promised and such, but outright uprisings are less likely.

In OTL a number of states were declared all over Europe, but only a handfull actually became independant, one such state is the Bavarian Soviet Republic. Because the United States did not join WWI it ended up lasting untill 1919, leading to unrest in Germany, due to war exhaustion. Thus the German Revolution ends up with three main sides, the Monarchists, the Republicans, and the Socialists, each side had it's own unrecognized states. Prussia became a republic, and Bavaria became a kingdom.

What did the USA do? Did they simply stay out and traded? Or did they turtle up totaly?

Also in OTL they grew somewhat angry at the Entente for the blockading policies. But that was later brought around by German blunders.
Not to forget the Blockade only got totaly effective after USA entry.

So I highly doubt that the Entente could keep up after late 1917 or early 1918 at the level of OTL. That would accumulate changes. Not to mention the shaky French moral in 1917. That got better because of USA entry into OTL WWI. Here? Not so much.

At the end a wars end of exaustion is highly likely. And then Germany has some leverage because they sit on French soil and have Brest Litovsk.
