A question pertinent to an idea for a timeline I had.
Would an ethnically non Russian Tsar Russify his name, take a new Russian name or keep his name?
The Tsar I had in mind ( through the power of ASB) was Roman von Ungern-SternbegIf he's an Orthodox non-Russian, he just uses his old name or a Russian version of his old name.
If he is converting to Orthodoxy at the same time he gains the throne, he'd get a new name and probably use that name.
But really, it depends on the name. Which Tsar would this be?

Not ASB, but 1/1,000,000 probabilityThe Tsar I had in mind ( through the power of ASB) was Roman von Ungern-Sternbeg

It's more proper to say that the Rus are Slavicized Vikings than to say that Rurik et al weren't Russian.Technically none of the Tsars were ethnically Russian, Rurik, the founder of the Rurikid Dynasty was a Swede. . .For reference, the Rurikids ruled Russia from the 700's to the Death of Ivan IV. . .
Not sure von Ungern-Sterberg would even want to be Czar, restoring the Empire, yes. But he saw himself as the warrior who would bring back Order, not the leader. And order would of course be the legitimate claimant, because everyone knows the succession has been outlined by God.The Tsar I had in mind ( through the power of ASB) was Roman von Ungern-Sternbeg
Cesare Borgia?

But if he was Czar it would probably just be Roman I, since well, it's a Russian name.
Tsar Tsar?
Got to agree with the above.
Even after he invaded Mongolia, von Ungern-Sternberg never tried to declare himself Khan or anything. He still kept the (non-Christian) Bogd Khan on the throne.

He also wanted to restore the Qing and Romanovs and didn't see Mongolian independence as anything else than temporary, since obviously the legitimate Russian and Chinese emperors shpould reclaims what's theirs.Tsar Tsar?

Well he ruled an independent country. He also wanted to restore the Qing and Romanovs and didn't see Mongolian independence as anything else than temporary, since obviously the legitimate Russian and Chinese emperors shpould reclaims what's theirs.
Bogd Khan was also more of a religious leader than a monarch.
