A early window to the west

Ivan the Terrible gave a marriage proposal to Queen Elisabeth Tudor.

What he wanted out of it -

a son to rule Russia and a place of exile if he is overthrown by his own people.

What he got out of the marriage proposal - building of a English embassy in Russia and a small ten-foot boat which was warehoused until after his death.

(Peter the Great took both. The embassy, he used to house his mistresses and start thinking of looking to the west. As for small boat, it became the first ship in the Russian navy.)

Yet there are no timelines where she and Ivan create a hybrid empire. Here is your challenge! Marry Ivan to Elizabeth and keep the empire intact.

There would have to be divergence bordering on ASB for this to work, as to be monarch of Russia one has to be Orthodox, while to rule over England one must be Anglican.

Not at the time of Ivan the Terrible. The Orthodox rule for Russian Tsars came long after the Time of Troubles - it was instituted by Paul the First, who feared a repeat of Catherine. It would be suicidal for any Orthodox patriarch to tell Ivan the Terrible "do not marry this woman" - Ivan was known for nailing a man's hat to his head just because the man refused to take it off in his presence.

As for the Anglican rule, that did not happen until after King James II.

So it could and would work. The problem is transport - Ivan could not leave Russia without someone getting an idea, Elizabeth would have to go to Russia meaning she will have to leave someone in charge while she is gone for two years (long enough to have a child and recover).
