Okay, i might revive my president butler tl in the future, and i wanted your opinions on this idea (note, going very very bleak, like Jared's DoD, except worldwide):
- Smedley Butler considers a run for President as the depression worsens.
- Huey Long survives the assassination attempt and considers running along a "share the wealth" platform. Meanwhile, millions are unemployed and are divided on the future of America. This splits American politics between not only Republicans and Democrats, but also between radical groups as the depression descends even further
- After vote splitting by Long in a very close and fraught election, Butler wins the election by a plurality as the first independent candidate in decades. This shakes the dynamics of American Politics.
- Butler begins to purse anti-corporate policies and begins to withdraw us presence form Latin America and make the philippines independent. While this causes anger among wall Street, Butler continues regardless.
- Japan begins to march into China while Hitler devours the sudetenland. Seeing America's isolationism, Einstein writes a letter to Neville Chamberlain asking that Britain produce an Atomic bomb. The London Project begins.
- WW2 begins as Hitler conqpires with Stalin to devour Poland. London Project goes into full drive.
- Butler is popular enough to win a Second Term. No Lend Lease ITTL under a neutrality act. The Blitz begins on Britain as shipping bound for it from Canada is sunk by U-Boats. This angers Smedley Butler, but America doesnt have much to force Germany's hand. The A-bomb project moves to the Kalihari desert.
- Hitler invades Russia. Stalin's armies do worse than OTL due to no LL. Much more of russia has fallen to the Axis forces as moscow looks at the precipice of destruction.
to make matters worse for Stalin, Japan invades Russia. Stalin is killed by a sniper, causing the USSR to fall into Chaos. Butler refuses to intervene because he believes that "war is a racket" and the US remains neutral, despite the Axis being on the march.
Japan begins to suffer overstretch as Vietnamese, Indonesian and Chinese Partisans wreak havoc on the Japanese Army.
a fractured Soviet Union surrenders to Hitler. Meanwhile, Japan has crushed Indonesia at last and begins to make headway into Papua New Guinea, but is beginning to feel the strain. Robert Taft wins the next elections. Hitler begins to focus on Britain now. Although any invasion is possible, he can bombard and blockade it into submission. This leads to an intensification of the bombing runs and the U-Boats with a redesign of naval tactics.
However, new tactics are develoed by Britain in response to the recent U-boat plans and the British finally detonate their first Atomic bomb in 18 July in what would be Botswana today. Atomic bombs with uranium acquired from the congo begin to be mass produced while the Coventry class bomber is produce.
The Entire Nazi Party is decapitated when a British coventry bomber deploys an atomic bomb over Berlin, killing the entire apparatus of the Nazi Party. The division on who to replace him and the C3 leads to civil war as the third. This division in the Third Reich allows for Mass rebellion on the German frontier as partisans wreak havoc on both sides. In the Pacific, Japanese ships begin raids on the Australasian coasts, while the British army in India is repelling raiders. It is later revealed that the Atomic bomb was the only throw of the dice for britain itself as supplies were dwindling. The ensuing civil war allows Britain to withdraw from WW2 in Europe as the third reich implodes. In the US, Robert Taft orders an atomic bomb be developed in response to the recent nuclear weapons use.
Partisans in Asia give the Japanese lots of problems when the Kwangtung Army is overstretched Across Asia. In Indonesia, insurgents manage to seize a chache of Japanese weapons. Millions flee to the United States in response to atrocities in Eurasia and Africa. In Europe, the Third Reich finally gives in to infighting and rebellion, leading to lots of ethnic tensions and warlords arising, namely using old WW2 weapons.
The Japanese Empire collapses as the partisans finally force their conquerors to retreat to the mainland. WW2 is finally over, with 100 million dead. Europe is in ruins along with Britain, and Asia is a total mess.
The First Successor War takes place in the Ukraine as 1 million die. Millions more head to Britain, America and Canada. In the United States, their first nuclear bomb is detonated in Alaska, while the first Hydrogen bomb is being designed.
due to the general weakness of Britain, Canada moves closer to the United States
 The First Successor War Ends.
India implodes into civil war as it fractures into 16 nations by 1957. 14 million are dead.
Warlord Mao Tse Tung, from Manchuria, tries to make headway into Beijing. Meanwhile, Japan falls into isolationism.
The Second succession war takes place as a dirty bomb from the old nazi atomic programme is used in what is left of Byelorussia. The fallout spreads west, killing millions and leading to a huge amount of birth defects.
-73: the African Wars take place as numerous former colonies of Britain, belgium, Spain and France go to war over boundary disputes across the continent. 40 million die.
-67: Europe falls into a series of Wars spurred by ethnic tensions.
Kazakh flu spreads killing 100 million worldwide. America goes even further into isolationism as a quarantine measure.
at the suggestion of British Prime Minister Harold Wilson, a plan is made between Britain, France, Holland, Belgium, Sweden and Norway to take control and restore order to what is left of Europe. The plan for a confederation takes until 1980 to implement.
-73: a War breaks out in Central Asia between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, with Kazakhstan losing 20% of its territory in 1973.
the London Agreement between Ireland, Britain, France, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Spain and Portugal sets the first step towards the European Confederation. A Free Trade and Common Border plan like the EU OTL is implemented.
The European Confederation becomes federalised under the Unification act of 1989.
