A Distant Thunder?

I understand a film is soon to be released which is based on an old Ray Bradbury short story, which I believe was called A Distant Thunder or something like that. The premise of the story is that time travel exists and that a bunch of people get to go back in time to hunt a dinosaur under tightly controlled conditions to make sure they don't screw up the future. One guy screws up, steps on a butterfly, and when they get back they find thta the person they were glad lost the presidental election - an evil guy named "Deutcher" if that isn't some kind of anti-German freudian slip - had won. According to a short article I glanced at in Cinemascope the movie seems to have the same premise, but supposedly promises more radical changes.

Anybody else hear of this and want to see it?

I believe Ray Bradbury had a short number of stories made into shows ( Ray Bradury's Thearte?) and this was one of them. They sometimes air these episodes on the Sci-Fi channel as a marathon.
I would rather have Hollywood not touch this story. It seems whenever they get hold of a good book, they mess it up big time.

I believe this will be a "Hollywood" production and I now remember reading that Ben Kingsley will play the owner of the time-travel company. Old Ben is maybetoo much "star power" to waste on a SciFi network show.

I thinlk I may go see this,Zoomar. I understand the film was delayed in production for reshoots. Look at CATWOMAN! |Yikes.
Never a good thing. Also there are games based on it coming out on the GameBoy Advance and Playstation2.Wonder if there will be a sequel? I'll go after i see SKY CAPTAIN in the World of tomorrow.

The story is actually called "A Sound of Thunder." If you would like to read it...

Its a wonderful story, and I think it would make a great movie, if done well. As I mentioned on another thread, the Simpsons did a marvellous parody of it on one of their Halloween specials. :D
