If Louis XVI had not been married to Marie Antoinette and he instead married one of the other proposed candidates for his hand (Marie Amalie of Saxony or Marie Josephine of Savoy) how might these Queen consorts have fared compared to Marie Antoinette?
I think it would depend on how well they
were educated, how well they got along
with Louis, & most important of all, their
character. Marie Antoinette was not a bad
or evil person, but she does seem to be a
little silly, & not the brightest person around.
If these other candidates were IOTL, better
than this, I think they would do better. But
one thing this change would NOT have accomplished was to butterfly away the
French Revolution; there were just too many
factors @ work.
