So was doing some reading, and discovered that John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster had three sons born before Henry of Bolinbroke. John (1362-65), Edward (b and died 1365) and John (born and died 1366). What I am wondering is, what happens if one of those sons survives? Let's go with the first born son John. Say he lives longer, and actually reaches adulthood, who might he marry, when his father is still alive and kicking what titles might he be given, and what happens to Bolingbroke in this scenario?

Furthermore, for a brief character description of him, I'd say he'd be a soldier, stern, committed and loyal to a point. He'd avoid the debacle with the Lords Appellant, but might start thinking of ideas, when his cousin stems into madness.
