Hello everyone. I find it very interesting we have imposed concepts of the definition of continents. I was wondering what POD's would leave the present day with a different understanding of what constitutes Europe. I know that these things are already blurry, and i do not wish to discuss where Europe really ends. For the sake of argument, let's go by the definition on Wikipedia. The Ural Mountains to Iceland, the Arctic to the Mediterranean.

So, is there any way that this concept of Europe could be changed or eliminated all together?

For example, say that the Reconquesta failed entirely and Spain remains Muslim until the present day. Would it be possible for them to be seen as an ambiguously European country, such as IOTL Turkey? Could the Western hemisphere see itself as an extension of Europe, such as how the Greeks thought of Italy as part of "Magna Graecia"? If the Muslim conquests had failed entirely, would a whitish Christian North Africa perhaps be incorperated into "Europe?". If they had suceeded entirely, would Europe just be seen as the fringe of "The Greater Middle East?"

Anyway, thoughts are welcome.

On a side note: Despite the horrors of the colonialism, i always thought it would be interesting if European countries still straddled the Mediterranean. If France and Algeria were still one (always shown on a map together) Italy still held Libya, England and Egypt weren't seen as two separate entities, etc. I'm also the type that thinks that Liberian statehood would be cool, despite the implications.)
