The Battle of Bouvines is regarded as one of the most important events in shaping the French Kingdom, ending the “Angevin Empire” and ending in the replacement of Otio IV by Frederick II as Emperor; but it was a close thing, as Phillip Auguste was unhorsed during the decisive part of the battle. What can be the consequences for France, Angevins and the Empire with a reversed battle? Can John Lackland detach his possessions from France and unite de Jure all angevin lands (England, Aquitaine, Normandy, Poitou, Anjou, etc) in a new kingdom ? Can Flanders or Brittany (as example) stop being a French vassal and become an English vassal or a totally independent entity?

Thanks
