A Curious WI

Wow another Groening project? Like say Futurama?

Oddly enough McFarlane dying on Flight 11 may lead to Futurama taking Family guy's slot, maybe buying the show a few more seasons.

I was actually thinking beyond Futurama. But, come to think of it, with Simpson's and Futurama, they might see themselves as putting too many eggs in one basket to add a third.

How about a Judge/Daniels project? Or, someone else comes from out of nowhere like McFarlane.

I don't know why people hate on Seth Macfarlane I love family guy, different strokes I guess. Would we still see Robot Chicken? Seth Green also was very important Family Guy, being as he's Chris Griffin so maybe he doesn't get as much exposure.

That's a good point. It's possible that Robot Chicken doesn't happen (or if it does, it'll be solely Senreich), but I doubt it.

Senreich and Green were good friends and collaborated on a series of webisodes together, so while Green doesn't have a bigger exposure as he did in OTL, RC may still come about.

I really don't see why Robot Chicken couldn't happen, even if details (including the name) are slightly different.

I believe that Seth Green's exposure came much more from Buffy and Austin Powers than it did from Family Guy. And he wasn't going anywhere, since he's been in show business since he was rather young.

Looks like he was already connected to Senreich back before Family Guy, and that the origins of Robot Chicken go back to a web site they were doing back in 2001.

Not to mention, I'm still assuming the episodes of the show before cancellation become a cult phenomenon, and Green is huge with the type of audience that watches cult phenomena.

Simpsons is canceled early, 24 is bigger, possibly no Bones.

Now, why would they cancel Simpson's without Family Guy? It's ratings really aren't closely linked to Family Guy, so I don't think they'll go down just because there's no Family Guy. They may certainly go down for other reasons distantly related to the POD (avoiding the term butterfly), but not just because Family Guy is gone.

Peter Griffin foils 9/11? That would make an awesome cutaway gag if it weren't in bad taste.

Now, when has bad taste ever stopped Family Guy?

in my view, I think Family Guy gives The Simpsons a bit more reason for being.

without Family Guy, the role of The Simpsons as iconoclast program deteriorates and the show is more likely to be seen as pointless after so many many years.

with Family Guy, all of a sudden, The Simpsons ends up being repositioned, it's more "mainstream," Family Guy could be seen as creating a different category for The Simpsons to produce itself from... I think.

(From iconoclast program to slightly-more-family-friendly iconoclast program... )
