For those that forget this aspect of the Empires, in the 1880s one of the Congresses of Berlin used abolishing slavery as an excuse to invade and occupy Africa. Now, the problem with this is abolishing slavery in a global context where Brazil's slavery will disappear before the Confederacy's leaves the biggest state most proud of the institution being the Confederacy in such ATLs. All caveats about the sincerity of this opposition aside, what does the CSA do when the Scramble for Africa starts? Given it can't even take Cuba or defeat Mexico, a CS version of Operation Torch verges into Crack!TL, so any reactions will be defensive. But how does it precisely interpret anything like the OTL Scramble for Africa and the emergence of the colonial empires who used abolition of slavery as one of their major justifications?
Would the CSA end up anti-colonialist? Or would this simply encourage the CSA to become a Hermit state like the Joseon Kingdom?
