I was poking around a Submarine book of mine, and came across the fact that in 1993, 10 Golf Class SSB's (the only diesel -electric ballistic missile esubmarien) were sold to the North Korean's for "scrapping." And while they never entered into operational service, many believe that some of the technology aboard was used to further the NK missile program.

However, is it in any way possible that the North Korean's could have somehow salvaged one or two of them for operational service? I'm not really sure about their seaworthiness (they were several decades old,) but I imagine they could have got so in operational condition if they tried. Now, if they entered fleet service, could th enorht korean's have equipped them with their load out of 3 missles. originally the golf's were armed with Scud's 9which NK makes knock offs of) but later were upgraded to carry ss-13's, which i imagine the NK's have something comporable to. And in time I suppose one could imagine them fitting a nuclear warhead on one (if they are ever able to miniatureize it.)

So is it feasible that the Norht Koreans could have taken this oppurtunity to give them a better detterent force? And what type of threat would such a system be in North Korean hands. Basically, would this put the North Korean's in a position were they were enough of a threat to U.S. or any other nation that we woul dhave to be doing alot moer worrying than we are right now?
