Now I'm sure I'm not alone when I say (type) that TR was my favorite American president in history.
Now, I'm just wondering what his third term would be like had he won.
During this time, there are numerous diplomatic dilemmas in which he would change the world:
-Veracruz Incident
-Lusitania Sinking/The Great War
-Pancho Villa Raid
These major issues, if handled by TR could change the face of the world we know today, and even in 1920.
Veracruz Incident-
-As we know, TR didn't take shit from anyone. Would he declare war on Mexico, or bite his lip? (due to the ABC Powers). Had he declared war, there would definitely be border changes, but how dramatic and where?
-If the Panch Villa raid wasn't butterflied away, would that have lead to war?
Germany and the Great War-
-When the RMS Lusitania was torpedoed, Teddy was calling for War. Had he been president, he would have put his money where his mouth was. But how long into the war would it be before he made a difference? Would he declare war on the Ottoman Empire or Bulgaria?
-Would Teddy do what Lincoln did during the American Civil War, where he would punish enemy sympathizers (while not giving them their basic rights)? He was pissed about people who called them selves German-Americans or Irish-Americans that want supported neutrality. "He insisted one had to be 100% American, not a 'hyphenated American' who juggled multiple loyalties." (Wikipedia)
-Would the US do more/better in The Great War under TR than Woodrow Wilson?
-Wilson's famous 14 points has a massive effect on the post-war world-- especially in regards to Europe. What would be TR's version of the 14 points? Would he call for autonomous development of the nations within Europe? Would he call for Serbia to have access to the Adriatic; if not, would Italy get the war spoils it was looking for? Would the occupation of Germany go past the Rhineland? If he declared war on the OE, would the US be a major player in its occupation? Would the US take any territories for itself (such as Germany's Pacific Colonies)?
Russian Civil War-
-How involved would TR be in fighting with the Reds? Would the whites be any more successful?
Greenland-
Would he be able to purchase it from Denmark? Would he want to?
I know this is a lot, but I think the answers I get on this thread will lead to some good TLs. I also think that me asking all these questions will organize the information on WI TR was re-elected in 1912 (which I'm sure other people care about).
Thanks,
Zach
