Maybe, but you still have the Cross Bronx Ex. The Bronx has always been the "edge" or at least NOT the heart of New York City. Presumably the Long Island Expressway would stop where it hits the Grand Central Parkway. Everything else is the same.

I'm well aware considering I am a New Yorker. When everyone refers to New York, three times out of four that it is Manhattan and always the Manhattan below 59th street, everything above is barely mentioned. I of course meant the possibilities of a more wealthier and prosperous Bronx that doesn't have the crappy reputation it has of being a breeding ground for crime as is common thought among foreigners who watch movies and TV shows. Of course I assume the areas hit by the construction of the Cross Bronx would remain having low property values as in our time-line.
