A Broken World: A Collaborative Oral History TL

So, given that the last one died an ignominous death, I would like to start a new collaborative oral history TL. For those who don't know what it is, I'll explain. To quote theReturner:

Basically, in this collaborative TL, we each write as if we are a person living in the TL, which can be done through an Interview, Journal, Book, Ect.

Here are the rules:

1. Keep it realistic. I don't want to see a NEO AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN SPACE ROBOT EMPIRE or anything like that.
2. Stay on topic with what is being discussed.
3. Do not contradict something another poster has brought up (unless it is a matter of opinion).
4. Maps, photos, etc. are more than welcome.
5. No wanking without a damn good explanation.

Themes, subject matter? I'm planning to have a different look at a CP victory world, different than the usual 'sunshine and rainbows' assumption. Not utterly dystopic, just different.

Oh, and you're free to use both fictional and OTL characters.

American forces have entered the capital of Mexico City the capital of Mexico meeting resistance by several Mexican civilians with one woman throwing rotten tomatoes at American troops passing her home. American soldiers are entering major Mexican cities to support the Huerta’s rule from revolutionaries. The Clark Administration has made it their goal to bring order and an end to the civil war being waged to their south. Secretary of State Hearst when asked about the developments in Europe he responded, “We are fully involved in the bringing of security and democracy to Mexico and you want to know about a European war of no value to us?” The rebel leader Pancho Villa responded to the American “invasion” and has vowed to never surrender to what he calls “Yankee imperialism”.

America to declare total neutrality

Secretary of State William Randolph Hearst in a recent press conference announced that the US will as Hearst calls it, “Follow the wisdom of Washington and join in neither side in this foreign engagement.” The Clark administration has begun the practice of harsh fines to those who sell weapons to either side or banking establishments giving credit to either side. American volunteers for European armies are told to return to their home country or face charges of treason. There was been an enormous backlash amongst American businessmen on this choice. With the inability to capture or defeat Pancho and his followers along with other Mexican revolutionary many feel that Clark’s chance for reelection or even winning his party’s nomination in 1916 presidential election are small.

A Belgium in Exile- The Congo

After Germany and her allies’ victory in the First Great War Belgium became an unwilling vassal of the German Empire with occupation of the country having no end in sight. The Republic of Belgium as it is called is only recognized by Germany and the rest of the Central Powers. The Republic of Belgium is led by the Belgium general Herman Baltia, a son of Germanic roots, is corrupt and hated by the average Belgian and supported mostly be the occupying German troops there to prevent any chances of Belgium allowing France in the future of cutting through Belgium and catching Germany off guard.

For all their victories in the Europe front the African front was a black eye for Germany’s record in the First Great War. Germany was unable to supply their troops with the British navy more than capable of destroying all supply lines. The Allies in Africa captured all of Germany’s colonies and at the Treaty of Munich signing the Germans were not able to regain their colonies from stubborn British diplomats. Supported by the British a Belgium in-exile was created in its Congo colony with the Congo government claiming to be the legitimate Belgium over the Republic of Belgium as the Kingdom of Belgium led by King Albert I. In contrast to the Republic of Belgium the Kingdom of Belgium has large international support and recognition from the world expect from a stubborn Central powers.

The KoB in Congo is a major resource producer in the world with the Leopoldville government paying for the massive modernization of infrastructure and industry started in the early 1920’s. Belgians after the victory of the Central came in mass waves with the realization that the German’s were there to stay. Since then a small but steady follow of Belgians have been leaving their homeland for their one in exile. Reports of harsh economic exploitation of native blacks in the country have been called “German propaganda” against the Kingdom of Belgium.
