A British Statue of Liberty

I think the Kent horse could turn out all right. I still find it fascinating that Hanover (i.e. where the Saxons originally came from) still uses the same white horse as its symbol, shows you how well these things are remembered.

You mean Lower-Saxony (Niedersachsen). And I have to add Westphalia, putting the horse into the right half of Germany's most popoplous land's coat of arms (Nordrhein-Westfalen).
 
Speaking of places that need big, SOL like statues, there is a perfect spot for one in Wellington, NZ.

In the middle of the harbour that the city surrounds, we have a small set of islands, the largest of which is Soames. IT would be perfect for a giant, Pharonic statue or monument. Sadly we have missed the boat for that kind of thing, but a man can dream.

It would have to be pretty big though, 200 ft at least!

Speaking as someone who really likes the Angel of the North, and has seen it many times, can I just say that that Kent horse thing looks utterly absurd?
