The recent thread I started 'WI No Move To State Colonialism In The Late 18th/19th Centuries?', got me thinking about one particular aspect of British colonialism.
This is that unlike France, which has Algeria, the UK lacked a settler colony in the Middle East. In fact, it was one of the few regions of the world where the British lacked any large White presence (except for a small number of colonial officials).
So, is it plausible to have a British settler colony in the Middle East? Can it be done with the OTL British territories/protectorates or would it require the UK to come into possession of different Middle East territories?
I am not suggesting here a scenario whereby Whites become a majority of the population, as this would be extremely difficult, given the fact that many of these nations were densely populated in the first place.
Instead I am thinking of instead a colony which is viewed by the British as a 'White colony', with a very influential White minority (remembering that Rhodesia/Zimbabwe was viewed as such despite always having less than 6% European population). Also, the population of this ATL colony should view themselves as 'White Egyptians (or whatever the case may be), as opposed to thinking of themselves as British expatriates and develop their own similar, yet distinctive culture, from the UK.
