A Brave New World: An Anglo/American – Nazi War Aftermath

What help does Britain need in 1960 in projecting power that India doesn't? It doesn't lack for ships, or planes, or nukes, or bases/territories around the world. Even today Britain is one of three nations that can project power world-wide, I can't see how that ability would have been lost despite being on total war footing for two decades straight..

Financial. Britain has exhausted its financial means here just as it exhausted them in OTL.

Don’t get me wrong, Britain is still a great power and will likely remain one after economic recovery. For now though she needs a leg up and to rebuild her economy.

Whitehall should have thought much of this out during the war. I will cover much of this in the next update.

India, much like the United States, saw a growth in its power during the war. Again, will cover in future updates.

Britain may be exhausted here but Britain certainly isn’t going to just keel over and die.

Any help/advice you could provide would be appreciated. Please pm me if you think of anything.

Sure its army would likely be smaller than the US and India (unless you include commonwealth forces)
Slight spoiler alert, I do believe that to make up the 65 British divisions CalBear says were deployed in the Hot War (lost somewhere in the lore, I forgot to save the link!! 😡 My fault entirely.) Britain would have to pull on substantial Commonwealth forces.

I will cover this in more detail on future updates.

I'd love to see what happened to Gandhi, Nehru, and Jinnah.

And don’t forget to cover updates on East Asia, including the Philippines.
The Philippines became independent on July 4, 1947 (1 year later than OTL). At some point, the U.S. stationed Javelin IRBMs at Malanao Island off Palawan, which drew protest from India seeing that these missiles could easily reach the subcontinent.

Thank you very much for pointing out Britain's financial exhaustion, which has to be much worse than iOTL given the much longer wra. I wish Calbear had gone into it, and I'm glad you're going to.

Also, I totally agree that Britain would've had to pull on Commonwealth forces - even IOTL, Montgomery got virtually no replacement troops after D-Day.

My main challenge is putting together units from the Empire. Trying to work out which colonies would provide the most forces. Looking at which colonies had large young fighting-age male populations which make up armies. Maybe Nigeria?

If London made a promise to its colonies to grant independence in exchange for manpower I could see a couple of divisions from East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania etc…)

CalBear said Britain provided 65 divisions. I personally think no more than a third (so c.20-25) would have been from the UK itself.

I'm really hoping this version will have Republic of China won't be ruled by the Cabal like the CalBear's original timeline. So here, I would think that China in this version would be like OTL "Kaohsiung Incident" that transition the country from authoritarian to democratic.

I really want to see how Africa and Asia are impacted. How does decolonization go this time? Will it be faster because the US doesn't have the time or patience to have empires around anymore?

Here. The decolonization of Africa and Asia are explained by Calbear can be read right here.

India got a full independence by 1961 without any sort of violence like OTL, 1947 Partition after the World War II. Countries like Algeria and Morocco are both vote for full independence, thanks to the Right of Self Determination was mentioned in the TTL. Also, Kenya becomes 1st British colony in Africa to begin conversion to full independence, same applies to Nigeria, Rhodesia, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia by 1964. However, Sub-Saharan Africa still under control by French, Belgian and Portuguese would call Commonwealth for assistance in the same year of Kenya was fully independent.
And thus, Vietnam (part of French colony) would later become an independent state and staunch ally of the US despite of the complaining from the Sixth Republic of France demanded every territories should go back to their control.

Since Italy wasn't hit by the Italian Campaign in this TL (although it was hit by chemical weapons in the 1950s from the Reich), I suspect it will play a relatively larger role in the postwar world than OTL.

I was referring to places that haven’t gotten independence yet.

Ok, this thing’s got some more attention recently. I’ll write an update for this soon. It’s been months but I think I’m back in the headspace where I can do that.
In the meantime, I’ll answer some of your questions.

Thanks guys
