A Black Homeland in America?

Not very likely. Historically, the power goes to who with weapons/power, commercial ability getting to the place first. Then they can drop deep roots. That is why in America there are many subcultures, but only two cultures with staying power, uniformity and some degree of alliance, The South and the North. Funny thing is, they are both from about the same ethnic beginnings. Or all so I have read.

There have been failed black frontier colonies and (mostly in the South) well run exclusively black towns and districts. Apparently, when self run/well run they often enough recieved resentment, getting trashed, such as in Tulsa (wealthy) and Rosewood, Florida, but others did not, like Zora Hurston's home town of Eatonville (Florida). Failed colonies in newly settled places, the bare beginnings of what this thread is about, are somewhat significantly in Allensworth, CA, and Blackdom, NM, both cases the originators bought marginal land that had significant water rights liabilities.

The historical example therefore moves towards more extreme scenarios that others have posted on this thread. Existing OTL circumstances were rather isolated events and no where near the critical mass of a tight knit group necessary in most situations for the end result of a 'homeland', save a kind akin to that found in Apartied South Africa with big departures from OTL.

Or, desegregation is delayed, maybe by Nixon beating Kennedy in 60 or Barry Goldwater or something and when its attempted, violence occurs leading to low level civil war or the existing problems get worse in the 60s and 70s leading to a Vietnam wearied Federal government reluctantly conceding regions between northern Louisiana and the Carolinas to the Black Panther Party as its own nation.
ASB

Might as well have L.A. Riot lead to Los Angles becoming a black micro-nation.

Exactly who is going to run the paradise, Majority of freed slaves can neither nor write there are few doctors, lawyers, engineers etc. how you form and run a viable state with those hurdles is beyond me.
