A 9/11 WI: South tower collapses but North tower fails to collapse

Let's say the Flight 11 crews managed to stop the terrorists from hitting North Tower. But Flight 175 manages to hit the South tower. Can the American response alter? Can there be a fewer casualties?

The collapse of one tower would probably leave the other so badly damaged
that it would need to be condemned and demolished. That's going to be an
extremely difficult job.

Agreed. The contamination by the two towers collapsing caused some buildings which didn't actually receive structural damage to have to be torn down anyways. With those buildings being further away from the collapse zone, I suspect that the 2nd tower, being right next to the collapsing first tower, will definitely have that problem.

It will be torn down, in a long and tedious process.

Fewer casualties yes, (and fewer missing bodies) but no different response (they still attacked us, still killed innocents, caused one tower to collapse, and still attacked the Pentagon, there's no changing the response). BUT there'd probably be even more health problems for all the smoke and dust that was still kicked up and from the still burning North tower in this ATL. Not to mention (as has been already stated) the fact that despite the Patriotic Pride we'd get from seeing one tower not fall... it'd still be a health and safety hazard for the next couple of years. So there'd be more health issues as the North tower got slowly but surely dismantled and taken down.

What happens to Flight 11 by the way? Even if it misses the North Tower, it's still going to come to earth eventually and if it's not on a runway it could cause horrific damage in a city.

The damage caused by the collapse of the south tower would render the north tower unsafe and beyond repair (the shockwave damage to its ground and underground level support would immediately send her to the condemned list)

Taking the north tower down would be a bitch; you can't implode it for a variety of reasons; it would have to be taken apart from the top down and that would be a massive engineering project of epic proportions, to say nothing of the asbestos decontamination work that would have to be done inside and outside; it might actually cost more to take than down that the freedom tower has cost in otl

Wouldnt the effects on casualities actually be MORE than less if 175 is the only one that hits. When Flight 175 hit OTL the people above the impact had already begun to evacuate and not many people went to work as usuall. Flight 175 hit lower than flight 11. If it had it as OTL it had hit at 0900 when the work day began. The people above the impact would be written off in this scenario because even if stairwell A works as OTL it would be crowded by people below the impact zone trying to escape.
