I knew ours was similar, but I didn't realize that it was the same one. This one'll stay until I can figure out a new one (probably less that a day or two)

Their Candidacies

Elizabeth Dole and Dan Quayle have both announced their candidacies, making them the first candidates to do so. Dole has a slight lead, with Quayle trailing.

Powell for President?

Following the announcements of Dole and Quayle, many have begun calling for former General Colin Powell to run for President. He has shown interest in the past. One question remains: will he indeed run?

Gore Passes up run

Vice President Gore has indicated that he will not be running for President in 2000. This surprised many, and leaves the race for the Democratic nomination wide open. The current frontrunner is now Bill Bradley of New Jersey. Close behing is Jesse Jackson.

Trump: "I might run"

Businessman Donald Trump stated that he may run for President in an interview on CNN. Pundits are speculated on what party he will run with. Currently, he is a registered Republican, but there have been many reports that he is eying a run with the Reform Party.

McCain endorses Powell
CNN | July 10th, 1999

Senator John McCain of Arizona officially declined a bid for the Presidency yesterday, saying, "I do not see myself running for President this year. Maybe later, just not now." In addition to this, he also endorsed speculative candidate Colin Powell.

Within the past week, a total of four candidates have confirmed a 2000 run. For the Republicans, former Representative Jack Kemp announced his run. This came as a suprise to few, as he was already hinting at a run. In addition to this, Democratic frontrunners Bill Bradley and Jesse Jackson announced their candidacies officially.

Both John Kasich and Fred Thompson of Tennessee have indicated their plans for the 2000 election. Kasich has indicated that he will indeed run, meanwhile, Thompson endorsed him instead of running for the Republcian Party's nomination.

Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts has officially declared his candidacy for the Democratic nomination in 2000, putting to rest rumors that he would. He is currently trailing Bill Bradley by and avarage of 3 percent.

Dean and Wellstone
Appear at Joint Rally

CNN | August 29th, 1999

Governor Howard Dean of Vermont appeared at a rally with Senator Paul Wellstone of Minnesota where he officially announced his candidacy. Wellstone, who was also a rumored candidate endorsed Dean, saying, "It is time for Progressives to win the country!"

Nader Gains Momentum
CNN | September 15th, 1999

Consumer Advocate Ralph Nader held a rally where he said, "We must win and break this duopoly of the Republican and Democratic Parties." Nader has been recently been getting between 3-5% in nationwide polling.

Buchanan Attacks Trump
CNN | September 21st, 1999

Pat Buchanan, running for the Reform Party nomination has begun a series of attacks onto Donald Trump. These attacks, often offensive have only caused his polling to shrink.

Powell is Running
CNN | September 30th, 1999

Colin Powell, to the suprise of no one has declared his candidacy for the Republican nomination. He has a monumental lead in the polls and is a early frontrunner.
