In Dec 1994, an Air France airbus travelling to Marseilles was hijacked by Algerian Islamic militants who were intending to, as part of their anti-Western hatred of the support given to Algeria's secular govt in that country's civil war, refuel the plane and fly it into the Eiffel Tower. OTL, this hostage crisis was ended by France's elite GIGN counter-terrorist gendarmes who stormed the plane and eventually killed all the terrorists, but WI the militants had been successful in implementing their plan ?
