9/11/2001...World Wide?

I was recently looking at the wikipage for the international response to the 9/11 attacks, and the thought occured to me that Wow, in this tragic event, the world grieved with us, and joined together in solidarity against groups that use these tactics against any nation they deem their enemy..

But then another thought occured to me. What if Al Qaeda decided instead to target, not just the US, but all the Western World and those who either benefit or are friendly with it? What if, instead of just an attack on US soil, AL Qaeda launched attacks on that same day across the world? Some of them to be sure might be small, but what if a few were just as devastating as the attack on the US? What would the world-wide reaction have been?

What I'm wanting to know really is, the following.

-How bad do you think it could have been if they went through with such a plan? No uber major succeses, assume some of the attempts fail. But also assume some don't.
-What sort of effect would this have on globalization, and the unity of the world?

There will be alot more bush worship for starters

Why would that be? Maybe France is hit almost as hard as the US and has plenty of smart ideas about how to fight back. Bush squanders our dominance in the global anti terrorist coalition by sending most of our troops with a few allies to Iraq when it was a French patrol that captured an escaping Osama Bin Laden near Tora Bora.

France opposed the Iraq operation and instead staged the North Korea coup in Japan. Japan cooperated and provided air cover after trucks with shaped charges designed by North Korean agents and financed by Al Qaeda breached the outer walls of two the Fukishima nuclear reactors. The trucks were driven by Moonies. Japan was ready for revenge, and they got it. France and japan took North Korea down with minimal loss of life. President W did provide food aid to the destabilized North Korea, but we replaced W with Kerry, who sent some of the troops from Iraq to North Korea.

But what of the future. Kerry got us out of Iraq, but it's still a mess. And what about Senator Obama and his Senate Committee on Moon Organization Un-American Activities? Half the Washington Times staff has gone to jail. GHW Bush had to humiliate himself in public. And now Obama is going after W Bush and Cheney as Moonie agents.

Kerry's second term is coming to an end. Senator Obama might run, should I be scared of him? Should I embrace him now that he has come out as a fellow atheist and promised to open investigations into Scientology and bring Federal conspiracy charges against the Catholic Church?

I don't think Al-Qaeda would've had the resources.

To do what? Simultaneously steal more airplanes and drive them into buildings? That's surprisingly cheap, I would imagine.

I'm sure they could have done a lot more damage. I've often wondered why they didn't.

(I have to note that I am thankful, at least, that they did not...)

Someone made a good picture of an attack on Toronto for the alternate photo thread. But it seems that the internet has devoured it.

Perhaps look at that plot about blowing up those planes over the Atlantic which was foiled, and look at the feasibility of that happening earlier?

I think it is a miracle they managed to pull of what they did IOTL. The preparations for 9/11 already took years of work. If the organisation taking part in the attacks was truly worldwide, including multiple cells in different countries, the possibility that someone, somewhere would have been caught by law enforcement or already been a police mole or accidentally spilled the beans, etc. would have multiplied accordingly. Al Qaida are not supermen, and making the 9/11 attacks much bigger would also mean a much greater risk that the plans are thwarted.
