Would it make any difference if the Germans in the 2nd Crusade too the French route most through Byzantine territory to Attalia, and the later French tried to cut through Turk territory? The timings are;

- Conrad and his troops were decimated at Dorylaeum 25 October 1147, 2000 troops survive to join Louis.
- German pilgrims and camp followers destroyed near Laodecia 16 November 1147.
- Louis defends against a smallish attack at Ephesus 24 December 1147.
- Louis defends against another smallish attack on the Meander river late December 1147.
- The French fight the battle of Mt Cadmus near Laodecia 6 January 1148, sustain heavy losses.
- Louis and survivors enter Attalia 20 January 1148.
- Louis arrives in Antioch by sea 19 March 1148, his infantry is destroyed on the march in southern Anatolia.
