1983: as tensions mounted, a Soviet agent was instructed to position a suitcase nuclear bomb near Mildenhall air base. Unable to return the bomb past roadblocks, he buried it at an undisclosed point in a panic and thus the bomb became lost.

2005: that same agent is now destitute with no pension because of the Break-Up of the Soviet Union. He returns to the UK and this time retrieves the bomb. He then decides he's going to offer it to the highest bidder. Saudi backed Al-Qaeda offers 2 million dollars and the deal is done in London.

The terrorists decide they are going to attack the City of London as being the most damage that they can do to the Western world with the least risk to themselves.

Two suicide bombers haul the suitcase bomb to the steps of the Bank of England and on the 11th of September 2006 the bomb is detonated. It is 11am to ensure a maximum death toll.

What would be the consequences of this?

Would the city cease to exist as the biggest financial centre of Europe?

What would be the effect of a 2 kiloton ground burst in London?
