Bit like Hillary's sign isn't it? Wonder what response we'll get from Duke regarding Sam's speech? Anyway it's gonna be fun to see Duke trying to explain his positions! Because I'm sure the DNC and the Seaborn-Tyler campaign have a plethora of Duke's greatest hits to run in campaign commercials! Make him eat his words and every comment he's ever uttered since he announced. I think unlike Goldwater in '64, Duke doesn't have the courage of his convictions and will attempt to distance himself from some of his more uglier and outrageous statements! Democrats shouldn't allow him or make him out to be a fool or a liar!

It's based on the logo that was used for the Seaborn 2018 campaign, I just put the arrow in the circle. Although I do see the similarity.

Seaborn gets bump in polls from convention

In polling done within minutes of President Seaborn's convention speech last night, exclusive polling for NBS has given the President a twenty point lead in the polls, up six points from the last poll on July 6th, that represents a 3% swing between the two main party candidates.

Independent Republican Andrew Long has now reached double figures for the first time in the polling, giving 12%, which is just 3% below the threshold for qualification into the Presidential debates to be held in September and October. Green nominee Susan Buckner figures have gone down losing 2% in this poll.

Presidential Election Polling
Seaborn (D): 48% (+3)
Duke (R): 28% (-3)
Long (I): 12% (+3)
Buckner: 3% (-2)
Undecided: 9% (-1)

I am feeling good now. I just hope the Seaborn campaign doesn't get cocky and keeps their eye on the ball.

Seaborn accepts Democratic nomination

Thursday, July 20th, 2022

President Sam Seaborn accepted the Democratic Party's presidential nomination tonight, with a speech that mixed his pledges for a second term while labelling Republican nominee Alan Duke as a "dangerous man" and attacking the positions Duke has staked out on several issues.

Seaborn, who spoke after First Lady Lauren Parker-Seaborn, made a clear point of differentiating the Republicans under Duke from the "Republican Party of Lincoln, Eisenhower, and even Lassiter", portraying his opponent as promoting division, racism and homophobia and offering a viewpoint Seaborn painted as well outside the political mainstream, especially with regards to Duke's plans to dissolve several Cabinet departments and agencies.

The president made several pledges for a potential second term, including the withdrawal of all remaining American combat troops from Qumar by the end of his second term and to find a diplomatic solution to the crisis in Cyprus. He also made several promises in the area of domestic policy, including several healthcare reforms including a public option, closing the "boyfriend loophole" to prevent domestic abusers from legally obtaining firearms, policies to both forgive $20,000 from every federal student loan borrower and amending federal civil rights legislation to outlaw discrimination on the basis of gender identity.

Man the presidency has really aged Sam. His hair still looks OK but his body looks like that of a 79 year old from Delaware. lol

Three U.S. soldiers killed, more wounded in Bahji ambush

Himms Province, Qumar
An attack on a joint US-Qumari convoy left three American soldiers dead and several more wounded earlier this morning in a rural part of Himms province in northern Qumar.

According to a Department of Defense (DoD) spokesman, the convoy, which was escorting construction materials and medical supplies to distribute to remote Qumari mountain villages was attacked as it navigated through a pass by a numerically superior force of Bahji insurgents. A fierce firefight ensued, with an estimated two dozen Bahji insurgents killed alongside the three American and five Qumari soldiers. Two civilian contractors riding in the convoy are also believed to have been killed in the fighting, which was only ended with the arrival of an American gunship that forced the surviving insurgents to retreat.

General Tom Garver, commander of international forces in Qumar, said the attack is "extremely unusual", since the scorching Qumari summer has traditionally resulted in fewer Bahji attacks than in the winter, spring or autumn.

"This is another example of Bahji fundamentalism hurting the people of Qumar," Garver said. "The convoy was bringing supplies to build and repair both private dwellings and public infrastructure in a part of Qumar that has had little investment under previous governments, as well as medicine. Thanks to the attack, several pieces of equipment are damaged beyond repair, which will delay projects that will directly improve the lives of the people living in those villages."

The attack is by far the deadliest day for Americans in Qumar in several years. Although the three deaths mark the first combat fatalities for the United States since February 2021, almost a dozen Americans died in the interim. According to the DoD, nearly 1,000 Americans have died in Qumar since 2016.

Long throws cold water on "bipartisan" ticket speculation

Saturday, July 23rd, 2022

Independent presidential candidate Andrew Long (TX) dashed hopes that the Texas billionaire will have a "bipartisan" ticket by picking a Democrat to be his running mate.

"While I'm running as an independent, I still believe in the principles that make the Republican Party stands for, or used to stand for," Long told Fox News on Saturday. "I actually believe in the principle of limited government that [Republican nominee] Alan Duke says he supports, but unlike him, I don't care what Americans do in the privacy of their bedroom, and unlike his running mate, I don't think it's appropriate for political candidates to pal around with armed gangs, which is what these militias [that Republican vice presidential nominee Lloyd Pendleton has been associated with] are."

Speculation is rife for who Long will announce as his running mate on his primetime national convention rally next Saturday. Previously, former governor Rudi Vansen (I-NM) was considered the favorite, but several sources confirm that Long is reluctant to pick a candidate who left the Republican Party in acrimonious circumstances nearly a dozen years ago. Several candidates with impeccable GOP credentials have been mentioned by sources within the Long campaign, including several former state executives (Rob Cole of New York, Emily Rudden of Indiana, Carol-Ann Slater of Arkansas) and senators (Sarah Newbury of Nebraska, Seth Randall of Florida, Michael Swain of Rhode Island; both Newbury and Swain also served in Glen Allen Walken's cabinet). Additionally, former congressman Gus Edwards (MI), who ran for president against Duke this past year, has reportedly communicated with the Long campaign, although the subject matter of the discussions can only be speculated.

"A total disorganized mess" : How Duke picked Pendleton as his running mate
AN NBS Election Special Report.
PART ONE:

Sources from within the Alan Duke Presidential campaign have described to NBS how the former Oklahoma Senator came to pick former General Lloyd Pendleton as his Vice-Presidential running-mate two weeks ago.

The information and story given to NBS paints a disorganized campaign, with the nominee himself often unsure what was going. After clinching the nomination at the end of April, Duke made what looked a smart move appointing the former Governor of Nebraska John Moore as the Chair of his VP search team, alongside George Rohr and Campaign manager, Mark Patterson.

In May, the three man team drew up a "long list of twenty five possible names" (Pendleton was on this list) which between them was whittled down to a shortlist of ten. These ten would go through the formal vetting procedure (filling out a questionnaire, supplying full financial records, and a search of social media etc), the ten person short-list did not include Pendleton, and this list was put to Alan Duke for his approval (we understand Duke made it very clear that he would not accept the vetting of either North Carolina Governor David McNamara or Utah Governor John Elderton).
The Ten person shortlist
  • Sen. Rob Buchanan (VA)
  • Former sec. Stephen Kendrick (IN)
  • Sen. Ruth Norton-Stewart (OH)
  • Sen. Michael Rojas (NM)
  • Sen. Barbara Layton (NC)
  • Rep. Daniel Abend (KY)
  • Rep. Patty King (GA)
  • Gov. Art Scheider (OH)
  • Radio host Henry Stern (AZ)
  • Sen. Sorah Wheeler (AK)
After being formally notified that she was on the short-list, Norton-Stewart called Moore and said she "didn't wish to be included and was focused on winning re-election to the Senate". This lead to some panic with Moore speaking to Duke asking him to reconsider vetting Governor McNamara instead of RNS, but Duke point blank refused. This led to nine being formally vetted at this point. Within days of receiving the paperwork back, and reports on the background checks, serious problems where found with Patty King, and Henry Stern. (King answered the questionnaire "like a campaign rally" one person close to the Duke campaign told us) , and the fact she had several links with groups described as "conspiracy nuts and Neo-nazis", Plus searches of Stern's bank records showed he had "gifted thousands of dollars from supporters of his radio show", plus two of his donors to his failed 2018 Arizona Senate campaign had links to the Russian mafia. Moore attempted to remove him from consideration at this point, but Duke overruled it because he likes him "he is my kind of guy, I like him, he stays". But with King further searches found that she had several close friends who are or were members of different far-right groups, and a picture was found of her in 2014 at the Eagle’s Nest, Hitler’s Bavarian mountain home exclusively used by Nazi leaders during World War Two, and remarks regarding Hitler and the Nazis " They got many things right, and Hitler saw the threat of communism, a threat we still face today" was found from a search of the internet from 2015. This time, Moore was able to persuade Duke to remove her from consideration.

Then unrelated to the financing questions or past behavior, Michael Rojas the popular governor of New Mexico was already at the edge of removing himself from consideration. He filled in the vetting paperwork, but almost didn't send it back, according to sources from the Governors office, he disliked Duke on a personal level, and knows that becoming Duke's running mate would likely mean he would lose re-election if he's tied to Duke in a very Hispanic state. He had been kept in at this point by party loyalty and ambition, but was at the knife's edge, before deciding to call Moore to withdraw his name.

Also, with no news of further interest from the campaign, Rep. Daniel Abend pulled his name from consideration to focus on both his House race and helping the NRCC keep the House.

With all of this the list was now down to six names
  • Sen. Rob Buchanan (VA)
  • Former sec. Stephen Kendrick (IN)
  • Sen. Barbara Layton (NC)
  • Gov. Art Scheider (OH)
  • Radio host Henry Stern (AZ)
  • Sen. Sorah Wheeler (AK)
All six agreed to face to face interviews with Moore, Rohr and Patterson. Kendrick like Rojas, seemed to only be going through the process out of party loyalty. "His heart isn't in it" Moore remarked to Rohr afterwards. Barbara Layton, she said wanted the job "but had serious concerns of Duke previous comments about females, and especially female elected officials" adding "I don't disagree with him on a lot, I think I would be an asset to the campaign, but he (Duke) would have to "dial down" some of his comments". The stern interview was a farce, he turned up half an hour late, with Moore and Patterson believing he was drunk "I made one big mistake after my Senate defeat in 2018, I should never of conceded, I should of claimed the result was rigged or stolen, (he lost by fewer than 4,000 votes), adding that he thought Duke "should not concede the race even if he clearly lost, we could stir up a load of trouble", this was even to far for George Rohr, and he called Duke saying "Stern is out, he is nuts".

Buchanan, Schieder and Wheeler all performed well, and it was these three that the panel recommended to Duke that he met for face to face interviews.

PART TWO coming Monday.

If Long wants to reinforce his ticket's standing as the "true" Republican one, Edwards would be the best choice. His opposition to Duke was made very clear during his primary campaign.

Pendleton suggests using nuclear weapons to level mountains in response to Qumar ambush

Sunday, July 24th, 2022

Republican vice presidential nominee Lloyd Pendleton suggested that the United States should use its nuclear arsenal to "reshape the terrain" of the battlefield. In response to a question on the recent ambush of a US-Qumari convoy that left three American soldiers dead and seven more wounded, the former three-star general criticized the Seaborn administration for its "focus on nation-building" in Qumar, then offered his opinion on how to prevent future ambushes.

"We have enough firepower that we can reshape the terrain if we please," Pendleton told a reporter after a campaign event in Ohio. "Whether that be with conventional explosives or nuclear bombs, we can prevent sending men and women into non-urban environments where they are in a prime position to be outflanked and ambushed."

Swiftly after Pendleton's remarks were reported, former top officials at the Departments of Defense and Energy (the latter of which oversees the nation's nuclear stockpile) and nuclear scientists lambasted Pendleton's proposal as "unworkable" and "insane."

"This is Operation Plowshare nonsense," says Dr. Jennifer Osterman, a nuclear physicist who retired from the Department of Energy in 2020, referring to the Cold War-era program that attempted to use nuclear explosions for construction purposes. "To physically damage a mountain pass, or a series of them, would take so many nuclear bombs that the fallout from the explosions would be frankly, unimaginably dangerous."

Former senator Alan Duke, Pendleton's running mate, when asked about Pendleton's verbatim remarks, said that he "would defer to General Pendleton's strategic and military experience" in regards to military geo-engineering.

"Now, when it comes to geo-engineering for oil, I can probably teach General Pendleton a thing or two." Duke joked, referencing his time as a board member of Klaxon Oil in his home state of Oklahoma.

I can see the Seaborn campaign putting out a "Daisy" style ad now.
