2018 Presidential Election

How will Sam Seaborn’s Foreign policy team work together? Will August Adair at State work well with Jack Reese at NSC? Will Seaborn run foreign policy out of the WH? or will he have a similar arrangement as was the case with Santos-Vinick? Will Shannon have free rein at the Pentagon? Who will be DNI( Director of National Intelligence)? If there is one in the West Wing universe! Or does DCI have prominence?

Location: The Josiah Bartlet Presidential Library and Mueseum

President-Elect Seaborn made his way through the path covered in recently fallen snow. Behind him stood Abigail Bartlet, the former First Lady of the United States and hopefully a future member of the Seaborn White House.

The pair were visiting a man who meant different things to both of them. To Abigail he was the father of her three daughters and the love of her life, no matter how stubborn he could be. To Sam he was a second father who taught him everything he knew about politics and had predicted this moment over a decade ago.

Seaborn and Bartlet, accompanied by Secret Service Agents, approached the pair of tombs made out of granite. Sam made his way to the only tomb currently being occupied and laid a copy of Time Magazine on it. On the cover was California Senator Sam Seaborn, who TIME had just named Person of the Year.

With faint tears running down his face Sam crouched down until he was eye level with the cold rock surface. In a faint whisper, heard by nobody but himself and the man currently occupying the tomb, he managed the words “I did it boss.”

Sam: You're in this cabinet, but we do not you grant the rank of Secretary.

Boone: What?

Sam: The Senate will decide your fate.

Hollis: I am the Senate!

The electors: Not yet!

Sounds like a good political cartoon.

To KINGCRAWA, about Sam & Lauren, having children or not having children doesn’t matter to many of us! But you ever hear of the saying, “inquiring minds”? Just an academic query really, and just a modicum of curiosity on my part, a curiosity that to date has yet to be satisfied!

These characters aren't real, and this is a question that may have popped up via some of the more light entertainment reporters, especially at the incoming First Lady.

It's the kind of drama that may be happening behind-the-scenes.

Edit: Give me a couple days. I see that not much has been established about Lauren since I delved into her background about 23 years ago. So I might write a little light entertainment myself, answering a few questions I have as well.

I am so glad to be apart of this board. I just recently stumbled across this board and I became hooked. I look forward to contributing to this already fantastic world.

Figured that now that we're, it would be time to update some infoboxes for the main cast from the original show. Leo and Presidents Bartlet and Santos were previously done, and there are a few other main cast members (Sam, C.J., Abby Bartlet, Will) who will be taking up new jobs in January, and others that are still under consideration for positions in the upcoming administration. So without further ado, here are some of the ones who for whatever reason probably won't need to have their infobox updated come January:

  • Josh and Donna have been established as being partners, but unmarried.
  • It's never been established when Toby and Andy were first married, but I figured it would have been just a few years before Bartlet's election at most.
  • Since Mandy was last seen in the episode where Bartlet (and Josh) are shot at Rosslyn, but doesn't appear in the two-parter taking place immediately afterwords, I decided that her resignation/whatever that caused her to leave was delayed for a week since the White House obviously had bigger things to deal with without being down a woman after the president was nearly killed.
  • Mandy was established as being the chair of Matt Skinner's presidential campaign in 2009, so I had her switch registration for a few years.

I honestly was thinking of writing something about the Seaborns and their childlessness before this conversation even occurred, but decided that it might be better to wait until after the inauguration since there's going to be plenty happening as Walken leaves and Sam prepares to take over.

Josh's predecessor at the DNC was Steve Rorsche, who had a stroke that precipitated Josh's move to that job. Rorsche was from the show (2006 DNC).

Josh Lyman might consider running for either Governor of Connecticut or U.S. Senate, as a return to a Administration post is out of the question!
Also, It’s amazing & a shame that Aaron Sorkin or some of the other producers from the West Wing series never approached some of the creators of this time line to perhaps do a new series focusing on the GlennAllen Walken year’s with a view to focusing on Sam Seaborn’s emergence as a national political figure in his own right, rather than a Aide to the President. Just a thought.
All there is nowadays is West Wing reruns and perhaps the series continuing on under Santos into Walken and then Seaborn may have not been feasible, but doing feature movies might overcome the staleness factor and introduce some younger viewers not familiar with the West Wing storyline to how politics functions in more contemporary times.
Particularly with the tensions between Russia & America, the post-9/11 world that we now inhabit, the presence of ISIS inspired terrorism & the Anti-Globalist strain in U.S. politics, tricky terrain to deal with.
