2018 Presidential Election

I'll be really disappointed if Sam doesn't win this, like Last Jedi disappointed. By the way, doesn't Frank Hollis own a large portion of Montana and would that play a role in the campaign?

Sam should've chosen a foreign policy expert as VP. If nothing else, he could always point to foreign policy credentials as a reason for his choice. Instead, he's done what John McCain (RIP) did to his own presidential campaign in 2008 by choosing an utterly unqualified running mate.

Who would have been a good Foreign Policy choice? Whose the senior Dem on Foreign Affairs?

The other reason Hollis is a bad pick is it makes Sams campaign look inconsistent. You can't run a left wing primary attacking big business and millionaires and then make one your VP

Seaborn and Shallick clash in heated final debate

The 2018 Presidential debates are over, and the final instalment from Arizona State University, in Phoenix once again produced a heated exchange between Henry Shallick and Sam Seaborn.

The format was divided by domestic and foreign affairs, but the most fierce clashes came over Gun Control, the Supreme Court and taxes. Shallick was far better than he was in the second debate last week, and in a heated exchange over business and taxes he attacked Senator Seaborn on both that issue and the choice of his running mate "Senator, you won your primary campaign by attacking big business and millionaires, and then you picked the biggest in America to be your running-mate, your double-standards are breath taking". On gun control and the second amendment it was Senator Seaborn who got the better of that exchange " When the Founding Father's wrote the Second amendment, the most dangerous weapon was a musket, now it is an assault rifle, as President I am going increase gun security, whilst defending the second amendment".

Seaborn also painted Shallick as out of touch "I respect Secretary Shallick's service to our nation, as a Congressman, Governor, White House Chief of Staff and Labor Secrtary, but I can't help but think he is an analog candidate in a digital age".

It had been a rough few days for the Seaborn campaign, but with twelve days left, the outcome of the election remains on a knife edge.

What's more infortunate is that he missed the potential of having Hollis as his running mate. Sam once said that, as a high-paid lawyer for Gage Whitney, he 'paid his faire share.' He could have used Hollis as an example of someone who pays his, avoiding the trap of becoming the Democrat who attacks the wealthy but instead insisting that they should be proud to show off how much they contribute rather than how much they can hide. Unfortunately, even if he changes his tone now, it may be too late and it would look like a flipflop, even if it would be more honest.

With Shallick, voters probably know what they're getting. But with the Seaborn/Hollis ticket, voters don't know what they're getting and maybe want to try something new or at least give it a chance. That was the case with Trump.

I wonder if they would use that in ads?

Sam Seaborn got his start working for President Bartlet, an economist who ballooned our national debt. He then worked for President Santos, who vowed to put the careers of teachers at risk. After his election to the Senate he ignored the people of California, using the office only as a springboard for his Presidential campaign.

Seaborn claims to represent the average American and promises to hand power back to the people. Then why did he select one of the world's richest men as his running mate, a man who is outsourcing jobs while firing 2,000 hard-working Americans? Maybe Seaborn only cares about the rights of ordinary Americans who are able to bankroll his irresponsible economic and domestic programs.

Unfortunately Senator Seaborn, money cannot buy the White House.

Seaborn/Hollis: Wrong for the Democratic Party, Wrong for America.

I'm Henry Shallick and I approve this message.

Leaked Emails Reveal Shallick's Harsh Feelings About Clark, Primary Rivals
By Jessie Becker

NEW YORK— The New York Times has obtained several files containing email chains in which Henry Shallick, former White House chief of staff and the current Republican presidential nominee, discussed his Republican primary opponents in less-than-flattering and sometimes offensive language. The files, which contain copies of several email chains dating from October to December 2017, appear to be from a private server that the Shallick campaign used prior to Mr. Shallick winning the Republican nomination and moving onto one provided by the Republican National Committee.

In several replies and emails, Mr. Shallick evinces clear distaste for his Republican rivals for the presidential nomination, notably calling Kansas Governor Peter Gault a "whacko" and disparaging Congressman Will Durham as "willing to throw the nomination to [Gault] and thus election to the Dems [Democratic Party]...to boost his national profile." But Mr. Shallick reserves most of his venom for Vice President Elizabeth Clark.

It is an open secret that Mrs. Clark and Mr. Shallick have a poor relationship stemming from their time serving under President Glen Allen Walken, and the invisible primary to garner Mr. Walken's endorsement to succeed him occasionally slipped into public verbal spats. But none of the sentiment Mr. Shallick expresses in the leaked emails have been reported before.

In several emails, Mr. Shallick describes his then-primary rival as "incompetent", "hysterical" and "deranged". In one dated November 19, 2017, he refers to Mrs. Clark as "Barbie with a Texas drawl and Zolof [sic] prescription", a reference to the vice president's later public admission that she had taken medication for anxiety. "POTUS [President of the United States] should have chosen [former Arizona Governor Evan] Drake [to be his vice presidential running mate in 2010] instead of that bitch", Mr. Shallick wrote in a December 2, 2017 email to campaign strategist James Eaton, "it would have saved both of us a ton of headaches."

The emails also reveal that the Republican nominee felt that Mrs. Clark's son Tom, who came out as bisexual in early 2017, was the vice president's "weak link" and disagreed with staffers who thought it beyond the pale to raise Mr. Clark's sexuality with the socially conservative Republican primary electorate. "As far as I'm concerned, if he appears at a campaign rally for LC [Liz Clark], he's fair game." Mr. Shallick wrote in a November 3, 2017 email. An email two days later shows the eventual Republican nominee come around to his advisor's position, saying that he would be content to "let Gault and co [sic] bring up LC's son" and publicly appear above the fray.

Mr. Shallick's campaign did not comment on the story when asked, but did question the validity of the emails. According to a preliminary analysis of the emails by New York Times cybersecurity consultant Jacki Refrew, there appears to be no alteration or deletion of any emails listed in the metadata of the batch obtained by the New York Times.

I can sense a Reagan/Bush pattern as Shallick would be following a relatively popular two-term Republican President but might only serve one term as his successor. If Sam loses, the next Democratic president in the WW universe ought to be a woman, or maybe their first African American President. My choices for the character portrayals:

Hollis: Inksoft Move is a “Sensible Business Decision”

Democratic Vice-President Frank Hollis caused a stir last night when he defended the decision by the business he founded to offshore a number of business functions to India putting around 2000 jobs at risk in Minnesota.

Hollis, who pointed out that he no longer had any role in decision making with the business and had recused himself entirely of any active role, said that the move was a “sensible business decision” and refused to criticise the move despite increasing pressure from Democrats and Republicans alike over the issue.

Mr Hollis also dismissed criticism of the move by his running mate Senator Sam Seaborn saying he “respected his position” but “didn’t entirely agree” adding that “we cannot continue to yearn for the jobs of yesterday, Inksoft continues to create thousands of well paying jobs in this country every year – sometimes to keep doing that we need to take tough decisions.”

The move by Inksoft has been widely condemned on both sides of the aisle with Hollis’ Republican counterpart, Senator Jack Hunter, who hails from Minnesota, calling the move “callous and short sighted”.

Breaking News!

Supreme Leader Kang of North Korea has died!

Supreme Leader Kang Sun-U of North Korea has died. That is the official statement on North Korean State media. This explains the bizarre activity in the capital of Pyongyang in the last 53 hours. On Wednesday the City of Pyongyang was occupied by a high number of KPA troops occupying areas around the government centres.

The West had more of his death but nothing was confirmed from the Hermit Kingdom until a few hours ago sources in the British government told BBC. The official statement confirms the rumors from the South Korean National Intelligence Agency and American CIA.

The state media of North Korea announced it on TV, Radio, and are printing special newspapers for the loss.

The Official statement is as follows:
"I am announcing in our woeful minds that our Supreme Leader Kang Sun-U has passed away due to a sudden illness after a visit to an agricultural collective on October 24th, 2018. Under the brave leadership of Choi Ji-hoon and Choi Nam-Sun, we will change our sorrow into strength and courage so that we can overcome the difficulties and fight more vigorously for a new Juche revolution."

During the announcement, the anchorwoman was holding back tears and sobbing while announcing the news.

This leads to the questions of who are the Choi siblings?

First they are Kang's nephew and niece, secondly they are related to Kang through his first marriage.

Choi Ji-hoon is the elder of the siblings born in 1980 to Kang Sun-U late brother and his wife. The family was politically elite. Little was known of Ji-hoon except he attended a football match while visiting England in 2002. He went to a private school in the UK in the late 1990's to early 2000's and loves football. Rumor is he was very fond Arsenal or Aston Villa Football clubs.

Ji-hoon appeared last year as a major player in the Korean Worker's Party and was seen at a foreign function in China.

Better known to the west is the official spokeswoman and Ji-hoon's younger sister Nam-sun. Nam-Sun was born in 1986 and since 2015 has been the DPRK's de facto spokeswoman. She often wears military uniforms.

She is known for her banter with the press from China, Russia, and America.

Unknown is the siblings' other uncle, Vice Marshal Choi, Chief of the General Staff of the KPA is involved in this new administration. All that is known is Vice Marshal Choi Jun-ho is he was the commander of the KPA forces along the DMZ from 2013 until two years ago.

The whole world will hold it's breath as Nort Korea's future is now in an unknown territory by the death of Premier Kang

The Korean Central News Agency released this bit of information:
"The body of National Defense Commission Chairman Kang will lie in state at Kumsusan Memorial Palace during the period of mourning from the 27th to the 5th of November. Visitors will be received between the 28th and the 5th. The ceremony for his parting will be performed on the 5th in Pyongyang. Central memorial meetings to honor Chairman Kang will open on the 6th. At that time, in Pyongyang and sites in every province, there will be an artillery salute and three minutes of silence, and all official vehicles and vessels will sound their horns."

Leaders around the world are reacting to the death of Premier Kang.

Both Japan and South Korea had emergency cabinet meetings to discuss the stability of North Korea. Both countries have yet to release a statment as they are treading cautiously.

The White House said: "The President has been notified and we are in close touch with our allies in South Korea and Japan", and "We remain committed to stability on the Korean peninsula and to the freedom and security of our allies"

The Foreign Office Released a statement by the Foreign Secretary, "The people of North Korea are in official mourning after the death of Kang Sun-U. We understand this is a difficult time for them. This could be a turning point for North Korea. We hope that their new leadership will recognise that engagement with the international community offers the best prospect of improving the lives of ordinary North Korean people. We encourage North Korea to work for peace and security in the region and take the steps necessary to allow the resumption of the Six-Party Talks on denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula".

The United Nations released their statement, "The Secretary-General extends her sympathy to the people of the DPRK at this time of their national mourning. The Secretary-General reaffirms her commitment to peace and security on the Korean peninsula. The United Nations system will continue to help the people of the DPRK. The Secretary-General is closely following the situation"

Russian President Romanova said in a brief statement to the press that, "The DPRK is our neighbor. We maintain a good-neighborly relationship. Of course, we hope that the loss of Kang Sun-U will not have any impact on the development of our friendly relations with the DPRK".

The French Foreign Ministry released a statement that stated, "France reaffirms its commitment to peace and stability in the peninsula and hopes the North Korean regime will evolve in a positive way. Our thoughts go to North Korean people who have been suffering for years from misery and lack of human rights. France will carry on its action for North Korean people, especially by supporting humanitarian programs."

Many nations either hoped for peace and critical of North Korea or were critical of Kang. Few nations were overwhelmingly pro-Kang.

China's Foreign Ministry stated publicly that, "The DPRK people would remain united with the leadership of the [Workers Party of Korea] and comrades Choi Ji-hoon and Choi Nam-Sun, turn their sorrow into strength, achieve new progress in socialist construction, and make new contributions to realizing the sustainable peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula"

While Venezuela, Qatar, Nicaragua, and many other nations sent condolences and sympathies to North Korea. President Luna is openly weeping at the loss of his friend.

Sweden and Finland did not release friendly statements regarding Kang's death. Finish Foreign Minister Miikka Vepsäläinen said, "Kang Sun-U probably won't be missed by most people" to the press in Helsinki. While, Swedish Foreign Minister Vernik Holmström told the public on Twitter that "The death of a dictator is always a period of uncertainty for a dictatorship, and North Korea is the hardest dictatorship in our time".

The North Korean Government has just announced a funeral committee and its co-chairs will be the Choi siblings and 286 other members of the Worker's Party of Korea.
