Thank you for the very good match report!

I would be very happy to do some for some Shannon matches (if it's ok despite the bias).

How do I? Obviously I have to wait for the actual match, but where do I get the result from?

If someone could clear that up I would be very grateful.
In the past OP profided the results via pm. I think it still works that way.

13 June:- Match Verdict:- West Germany V New Holland

Despite some unfavourable media coverage, I thought that last night's game was actually a decent performance by New Holland. Definitely not the best, but not the worst either. West Germany was always going to be a tall order, and I will admit that until half time, I had expected a loss. That seemned increasingly likely as the first half brought little surprises, with a predictably defensive strategy goalless half time. At that point, a draw seemned likely.

The second half was definitely more entertaining, but it was also a matter of beware what you wish for. A more aggressive approach conceded a free kick, and consequently, the first goal that became a taste of things to come. No surprise that most media attacks have been aimed at Contin for "throwing away" a goal. A number of shots got fans excited, but the elusive equaliser just never materialised. Still, even after the West Germans scored again, they kept trying.

After the match, Blanc adknowledged the defeat as a "setback" but remained positive, saying that "could have been much worse" and that he was now "fully focusing" on the next game against Nigeria next week. This hasn't been shared by the media however, with the 5-0 Nigeria-Levantine game already raising fears of a "second 2002". If he wants to stay as New Holland Manager, Blanc now may want to aim for 2 or more goals if West Germany and Nigeria dominate the group.

Group A table, after 2 matches
Pos Team Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Nigeria 1 1 0 0 5 0 5 3
2 W. Germany 1 1 0 0 2 0 2 3
3 New Holland 1 0 0 1 0 2 -2 0
4 Levantine U. 1 0 0 1 0 5 -5 0

"Well, it's definitely been a good start to this year's World Cup. The hosts have got a crowd-pleasing early victory, and in a fashion that will suit the German manager very well. Blanc played off the resultant fears, and his team played well - they can certainly draw positives from that result - but the match against Nigeria has to be at the forefront of their minds now to avoid crashing out embarrassingly early."

"The African side looked totally dominant in their victory against the Levantine Union for 70 minutes out of 90, and they now look like a real threat to the New Holland team, if not the more experienced host nation. Qualification from Group A is now looking like a two horse race, with the Germans confident, and the Levantines with a seemingly impossible task now against a disastrous goal difference, and the Germans still to play."

"Meanwhile in Frankfurt the Shannon team has been warming up well - a relaxed atmosphere has overcome the team now, without too many expectations but the possibility of a famous upset."

"The Group A matches have shown us that this World Cup will be surprising and action-packed, and so each so-called minnow keenly awaits their turn to make history."

"Now it's over to Group B to continue with the action."

Farsya vs Brittany
Farsya has opened their account in the 2018 AHFA World Cup with a 2-1 over Brittany at the Neues Olympiastadion in Munich.

As the teams went onto the field in Munich, Brittany didn’t have their main man at goal in Alan Poder with Daniel Le Guen getting his first cap for the nation after having a stealer season for his club in the Brittany league. The rest of the lineup from both sides was to no surprise despite some thoughts that Musa Hasan might not play because of an ankle injury that flares up only days before the tournament started.

In the first half, Riou’s men had the better of the opportunities with their best chance happening in the 24th minute with Alan Tibaut able to get past the defence before firing his shot wide. Tibaut would have another chance in the 37th minute but Yesolu would comfortably save the shot which some would say that there wasn’t enough power for it. With the score locked at 0-0 at the half, the Farsaya team thought they could have done better in the opening 45.

With the second half seeing the first substitute of the game happening with Vilyam Kalpan getting subbed for Isaolu while the Beyaz came off for Petrolu in the Farsya lineup. The start of the second half was much the same way like the first half with Brittany possession of the ball being higher than it was for Farsya. When Farsya did have the ball they couldn’t seem to find an opening to get the edge.

That was until the 64th minute where Korr tackled Papaz in the penalty box which saw the referee giving Korr a yellow card. With it being in the penalty box, Papaz slotted it through the goal as he got into the bottom corner of the goal to give Farsya the lead in the match. Farsya 1-0 Brittany.

If it hadn’t been set, this opened up the game with Brittany levelling the game at 1-1 with Arzhur Seznec getting it pass through two defenders before scoring a cheeky goal over the keeper to level the game at 1-1. Six minutes later, Hasan would snatch the winner for Farsya with a wonderful shot with the attack being the one-man move from Hasan as it would later be the winner as Farsya would claim three points in Group B.

The Captain Leads the Way as Rhodesia Shock Hawaii

Mustafa Ncube celebrating the second of his and Rhodesia's goals
On a boring day for the neutral fan it was two goals from Rhodesian captain and hero Mustafa Ncube that won the day as the unfancied Rhodesian side defeated the cult favourites Hawaii on a hot day in Munich. The game began dully with both sides initially appearing to be overawed by the occasion. The first excitement came on the 23rd minute when a poor clearance by Steve Carlisle, the Rhodesian goalkeeper, fell to the feet of Hawaii's star striker Maksim Leonov who was only able to blast the ball over the bar. This more or less summed up the first half as both sides laboured in the heat but were unable to produce that moment of skill required to break the deadlock. That said, it was Hawaii who were on top for much of that first half and credit must be given to Rhodesia for weathering the Hawaiian storm, even if Hawaii only had themselves to blame for failing to score. As it was, both sides went it at half time having been distinctly unimpressive. Surprisingly perhaps, it was Rhodesia who emerged from half time looking invigorated and ready to go, clearly Coach Tom Murphy must take some credit for this transformation, and they flew out of the blocks in the opening exchanges, pouring forward in numbers but, like Hawaii in the first half, lacked the finishing touch. Eventually the break through for Rhodesia and Ncube came in the 65th minute when Ncube rose highest to meet a Kevin McNeill corner to head the ball past Valeriy Chernikov, the Hawaiian goalkeeper and captain. Unfortunately for the fans, this was as exciting as it got until the 88th minute when Rhodesian substitute Des Alton was felled in the penalty area by Hawaiian right back Igor Fridman and the referee awarded the Rhodesians a penalty. Ncube promptly stepped up and fired past Chernikov to seal the win for the Rhodesians to get their World Cup off to a flying start after a scrappy contest.

Carbeen confedation is going to the world cup!
Well, earlier today a carbeen airlines aircraft took off airways.png , flying our players to west Germany. Frankly, this is two mircals rolled into one.
Firstly, it means that a caribean team are playing in a socialist country. Okay, it is west Germany, not the SAS, but still. Truly, a sign of the enlighted times we live in. if you had told me that this was going to happen five years ago, when the RNCF was conducting exseives near the caymannes and jet aircraft regularly over flew belizes, then I would have laughed. Even a year ago, with the election deliviering a pro-peace canderdate, it seemed unlikely. This is made all the more poginat by the fact that two of the players would not be in the team if the draft had not been rolled back!
Secondly, how did we get into the world cup? It appers that we were clearly so bad, that the polish-prussain team thought we could be easily thrashed. But like the hair and the tourtose, they got complaisant, three exelcenlent players on a three match ban and failed to qualify. Meny have suggested that this was good luck that brought us here, but it takes skill to capitalise on a opportunity. A sign of good luck to come in that great graveyard of the mighty, lipigz?

Nordic Triumph in Bremen
Today saw crowds flocking to Bremen to witness Match 4 of the C Group, where Nordic captain Ivar Karlsen led his side to a decisive victory over Peru-Bolivia in a 3-0 shutout. The Peruvians seemed quite confident at the beginning, challenging the Nordic goal more than once in the first 10 minutes. But that went out the door when the PNC got back control, with Straube scoring the first goal at minute 11, followed by Karlsen at minute 13. What followed was a well-fought stalemate to the end of the first half, and I’m sure a tense speech from Coach Mendoza in the locker room.

The Peruvians came out in the second half with a vengeance, determined to wrest control back from the PNC. But a rather nasty sliding tackle in minute 63 left Edgren with a twisted ankle and Aquino with a yellow card. Vitsut was substituted for Edgren, and play almost immediately turned in favour once again towards the PNC, with Vitsut scoring in minute 68. The Peruvians seemed to come alive again in injury time, but they just couldn’t connect, leaving the Nordic team with the win. Tom Curran, NEBC Sports, Bremen.

USGA vs Anatolia
World Cup Live Blog: USGA vs Anatolia

Group D kicks off in Wolfsburg soon as favourites, the United States of Greater Austria, face a resilient Anatolian side eager to do well as they return to the World stage. The crowd is looking incredible, the local West Germans have come out to support the Anatolians who face their rivals, while an army of Danubian supporters made the short trip over the border to support the black and golds.

1:
We have kick off. The US kick off as group D begins!

4: Header from Yokuşlu flies just above the crossbar, an early wake-up call for Austria

8: Dangerous free kick taken by Modric. Needed just a bit more curve

11: Absolute belter! Babacan makes a great save as Pjanić takes a shot from outside the box

15: What a chance! Dzeko finds space but somehow volleys it to the left of the post. Great cross from Pjanić

17: Özbayraklı and Alaba have a bit of a scrap up. No cards yet but the ref makes it clear he will be having none of that

25: Game has stabilized in the last 10 minutes, Anatolians happy to let the Austrians keep possession. Very tense in the Arena an der Berliner Brücke

31: Dzeko called offside. Had his run been timed just a bit better Austria would've been in with a great chance

35: Modric beats Topal with a wonderful bit of skill and finds Dzeko, but the Roma striker's shot goes straight to Babacan

37: Cech makes his first proper save as Bulut gives Anatolia their first chance.

44: Dzeko goes down in the box! The ref seems to be playing on... no wait! He's calling VAR! He's going to the review.... And he's saying NO PENALTY. Austrians are furious

45+1: This is a good time to go to half time. Austrians are dominating but the Anatolians have managed to keep the Austrian chances limited.

46: And we are back! Anatolia kicks off

49: GOAL!!! A horrible defensive error as Yazıcı misses a simple kick, giving Dzeko a clear chance on goal. This time he converts! The Austrian crowd is roaring!

51: ANOTHER AUSTRIAN GOAL!!! The Anatolian defense has collapsed as a brilliant through ball from Julian Baumgartlinger finds Dzeko who chips the ball over Babacan! The Anatolian's look distraught but they can't give up yet

59:
Yellow for Topal as he slides into Alaba

64: Okay Yokuşlu is subbed off for Deniz Türüç

68: Škrtel takes a chance from outside the box and hits the crossbar

69: After a relatively poor performance Umut Bulut is off for Enes Ünal

74: Babacan blocks a shot from Alaba after a wonderful piece of play from Austria

75: Yusuf Yazıcı comes off for Emre Akbaba as Ivan Rakitić comes off and Muhamed Bešić comes on

83: Babacan saves another shot, this time from Pjanic. Despite conceding two goals he has given a great performance

89: A THIRD FOR DZEKO! THE BOSNIAN-AUSTRIAN COMPLETES HIS HATTRICK! A cross from Modric richochetes off Türüç, finding Dzeko who taps it in!

90+3: And that is the end! Joachim Ruttensteiner's men will be happy with that second half performance as they take the 3 points in this final match. Dzeko will win Man of the Match with a fantastic hattrick. The Anatolians gave a resilient fight but they couldn't hold back the black and gold's attacking prowess.

The final score here in Wolfsburg is:

USGA 3 - 0 Anatolia

I will try to write an official overview of the GLR roster, lineup, and tactics later today. Right now going to see movie with the Old Man for Father's Day.

Aragon 2 - 2 Hoenn
1-0 Immobile 34'
2-0 Marco Asensio 65'
2-1 Hamada 74'
2-2 Hamada 90+5' (p)

Yellow cards:
4-4

Red cards: 1-0

Corners: 2-4

Free kicks less than 40 m: 4-2

Referee: Ikechuku Adegbo (Nigeria) - Grade B+:
Very good refereeing in a complicated match, correct to send off Verratti and issue the penalty kick to Hoenn (90'+4), some inconsistency in dealing out cards. Also, Bartra (28') and Insigne (61') should have been booked.

Two more teams were to celebrate their opening match in this World Cup 2018 today in Leverkusen.
Aragon's coach Pep Guardiola left Saul Niguez out after he was at fault for causing a goal in the last test match against the Republic of England (Aragon lost 0-1). He was replaced by Marc Bartra. Another substitution was necessary as, just before the match in the last training session, Sergi Roberto was injured - young hopeful Marco Asensio came in.

Hoenn's coach Eiji Zazawa on the other hand fielded the same eleven players who had successfully played the test match against the Caliphate of Cordoba and won 3-2.

The match began relatively slowly with quite a time of passing in the midfield and avoiding mistakes. A harmless shot by Ciro Immobile led Genji Miyagi to intervene, but he could hold the ball safely without problems (9'). Some lovely combinations were played by the Southern Europeans, but not much came of those either.
Thus, a set piece was needed for some dangerous situation - and a set piece came: Naoki Sato fouled Marco Asensio about 15 m ahead of the centre line, on the left wing, while helping out in the defence. Marco Asensio brought the cross into the penalty area himself, perfectly onto Ciro Immobile, who scored despite being under pressure from Katsuya Fujiwara. 1-0 for Aragon (34')!

This was very good for the game, with both teams now taking more of a risk and going into each other's penalty areas, however, a second goal was not to be scored before half-time. Two minutes of injury time didn't change this either.

In the 64th minute, Akimasa Yamashita lost the ball to Sergio Busquets in the midfield, still in Hoenn's half of the field. Busquets played an excellent cross onto the left wing to Marco Asensio, and after a world-class solo, Asensio himself scored a wonderful goal into the central right corner of the goal. Genji Miyagi was without a chance (65')! Aragon led 2-0 and had once again proven the high individual quality of its players, especially of the young talents like Asensio.
Soon after, Pep Guardiola substituted Bruno Soriano, a defensive midfielder, into the match for striker Zaza, indicating that Aragon should now defend the result rather than continue purely offensively.

But this was probably not a good decision: After an insecurity by Bruno Soriano, Shinji Tanaka won the ball and started a counter by passing the ball quickly on Hoenn's left winger Fujio Ochi. He, almost having run down to the base line, crossed into the penalty, onto the foot of Umanosuke Hamada, who was left with more freedom than a striker should have in the penalty area, and scored. Donnarumma might have saved it, but this will remain a point of debate. What was not debated is that it was now down to 2-1 (74').
Guardiola reacted and took Busquets out for the somewhat more offensive Antonio Nocerino. And Aragon was now on the attack again, with little relief for Hoenn. However, the Rayquazas' 3-5-2 had by now become more like 5-3-2 with the left- and right wingers acting very defensively. The offensive conduct by Aragon ran the risk of counterattacks, and Donnarumma saved his team in such a situation against Arinaga Kai with an excellent save (85'). The resulting corner was cleared by Marc Bartra.
But, come the third minute of injury time - four were given by the referee - there was to be another such situation: Junpei Onishi won the ball, passed, and Naoki Sato ran down the right side, passing somewhat back into the centre onto Arinaga Kai. Before he had the opportunity to shoot, Lorenzo Insigne - helping out in defending - fouled Arinaga Kai. This incurred a yellow card and a free kick for Hoenn. Fujio Ochi brought the free kick into the penalty area, in a very dangerous way, finding Katsuya Fujiwara. The header was excellent, but a certain Marco Verratti cleared the ball right on the goal line.
The referee already indicated it, and the VAR confirmed that Verratti used his hand to clear the ball, and this deliberately.
Red card and a penalty shot for Hoenn were the logical consequence. For the last seconds, Aragon was one man fewer, but this was not what mattered.
Umanosuke Hamada, the man for Hoenn penalties, shot and scored into the lower left corner, without leaving Donnarumma a chance of saving! The late equaliser for Hoenn, as, immediately after the next kick-off, the final whistle blew!

Aragon will now play the Great Lakes Republic, while Hoenn is up against Atlantica. Both matches will take place on Saturday, June 23.

Group E: Extra-time goal sends Sierra Madre to group lead
by: Gerardo Tuwana
17 June, 2018

It was an explosive match at Cologne's Müngersdorfer Stadium, one that could set the tone for much of Group E. A matchup between the one-time world champions seeking a second World Cup victory and a perennial continental juggernaut looking to score big, with the group lead in the balance. Indeed, for much of the first half, it was virtually a game of strikes, near-misses, and missed opportunities, as both los Azcals and los Zorros both tried to outfox and outsmart the other. It was virtually the same for the second half, as both teams continued to wear out the clock.

In the end though, the match came down to endurance, and as regulation time ticked away, much of the Philippine defense began to slacken off. In the end, with one minute of extra time (out of five) left, it was midfielder Andrés Cervantes that managed to evade both Dimasangca and Zuñíga long enough to kick the goal that propelled Sierra Madre to a 1-0 victory (and no doubt, sending crowds in Monterrey and Saltillo over the moon).

Group standings

With this match in the books, plus the 2-1 victory by Greater Norway over Tamazgha, both it and Sierra Madre currently lead the group, with the Philippines at third place, and Tamazgha at dead last. All eyes now are on Saturday's matchup at Gelsenkirchen, where los Azcals would have to top the Vikings to have any hope of reaching the knockout stages.

Group F Preview: Great Lakes Republic

Who they are
Captain: John Brooks
Manager: Mauricio Pochettino
Nickname: The (Un)Lucky 11
FIFA rank (as of June 1st, 2018): 20

How they qualified
Pochettino's side got off to a rough start in the Hex, losing badly to SAS at home in Chicago and to Atlantica in Boston. This sparked a brief panic in GLR football circles, with some believing Pochettino's job was in jeopardy. Despite intense pressure on the Federation to pull the trigger, however, "Poch" as he is popularly known was retained, and this patience was eventually rewarded. After the aforementioned slow start the Lucky 11 settled down, reeling off several convincing wins at home, eventually sealing their qualification with a draw against the powerful SAS in unfriendly territory.
Biggest strength
The GLR's squad is anchored at the back by three excellent defenders: Tim Ream, John Brooks, and Eric Lichaj, all of whom have extensive experience playing in top leagues overseas, including in European Competition. With much of the rest of the squad relatively young, much pressure will be placed on these three to shoulder the burden of leadership on the field. Brooks, the Captain, has performed well in this duty in the past, though some have questioned his ability to lead because of his dual citizenship in the DRR, the country in which the World Cup is being played. However, it is clear that Poch will rely on this unit as a key linchpin in his strategy.
Biggest weakness
The midfield is less than spectacular. While Perry Kitchen and Wil Trapp are solid holding midfielders, there are serious questions about the abilities of Alfredo Morales, Robbie Brady, and Harry Shipp to be able to effectively go box to box and link up with forwards Christian Pulisic and Josh Sargent. Poch has drawn some criticism from domestic league officials for expressing his open frustration with the lack of GLR midfielders willing to take a chance and go overseas to play against what he considers to be superior competition in Europe. While the entire team is certainly not lacking in drive and energy, the technical skill of the midfield in particular is doubtful.
Likely Tactics
Mauricio Pochettino's sides in the past have often relied on being able to absorb pressure and then looking to break out on quick counterattacks once they regain possession. There is no reason to believe that things will be any different this summer. Playing out in front of and supporting the back three, Kitchen and Trapp will look to dominate the midfield, while the other three mids and the two forwards will press high up the field, looking to create turnovers to exploit in the other team's half. Pulisic and Sargent have already been noted for their ability to score easy goals off of forced errors by their opponents.
Star player
Christian Pulisic
is the best player in Blue and White. Only 21, he already has accomplished more than any other GLR player by playing in Champions League Football in the DRR at Borussia Dortmund. The pressure will be on for him to both create for his teammates and score himself. While undoubtedly a great talent with a bright future, the task thus asked of him may be too much.

Projected XI
Formation: 3-2-3-2
Guzan

Ream Brooks Lichaj

Trapp Kitchen

Brady Morales Shipp

Pulisic Sargent

What the local media says

"GLR bridges a rather large gap between Atlantica below and Aragon and Hoenn above. Advancing past the group stage is difficult but possible, providing the Lucky 11 puts in a good licking on Atlantica and draws at least one of the games against the Giants. Stranger things have happened!" -- Michael Wilbon of the Chicago Tribune

Prediction
Aragon and Hoenn hold a clear advantage in talent, but not an insurmountable one. Ultimately, however, if both teams play well it seems unlikely that the GLR can expect to win and advance past the group stage. The Unlucky 11 will likely be sent home after a win against Atlantica and two losses against Aragon and Hoenn.
