Lindley claims dog rescue faked.

Saint Paul: The press secretary for Michael Lindley claimed today that that the dog rescue by state Senator Addison last week was staged. Martin Stevenson the Lindley campaign's press secretary said, "This is a blatant attempt by Senator Addison to boost his poll numbers. This is the lowest of the low."

The Addison campaign did respond but the police chief of Worthington Bill Heffner told the Star Tribune and other news outfits that, "The Dog in question has done this before. We have had three calls in the last two years to rescue this dog." Fire Chief Helen Larsen of Worthington also commented. "That dog has done it before and will keep going on the lake when it is breaking up."

The dog rescue put the State Senator ahead in the polls by a narrow lead. Addison 45, Lindley 39, and undecided 16 percent. The primary will be a close election. The question is will Addison hold onto his lead?

Addison in Med City, meets with Local and business leaders.

Rochester: State Senator Glen Addison today met with city officials in Rochester. He met Mayor Daniels (the governor's younger brother), Council President Albertson, and many leading doctors from the Mayo Clinic. Senator Addison was concerned over the exploding crime rates in the city.

He said, "While I intend to ease the law on misdemeanors of a non-violent nature I will crack down on gang violence, I will crackdown on murder, and stop protests from taking place like those in Oregon. There is something wrong here when there is a murder in Luverne, Waseca, Owatonna, Austin, and even little Preston, Minnesota. I mean why are we having these terrible crimes? I want to make this state better, a state where we can have a super bowl one by the Vikings." The crowd laughed. "But I will take the Lynx, or Wild winning a game."

Addison answered questions on how he would cut the state budget, why he has not been to church recently, and his position to allow Sunday liquor sales and in store liqour sales.

Addison adressed two other issues before going off into a private meeting with local business leaders, one was the Chinese President's visit to the Bergstrom residence in Lake of the Woods and Michael Lindley's accusation against him.

On the Chinese President, Senator Addison said, "While I find the man repugnant, I am proud the Midwest is getting this visit. I view this as Minnesota's growing influence in China through 3M, Target, Hormel, other companies and their subsidiaries."

Addison laughed at Lindley's claims, "The fact his campaign is accusing me of endangering myself and a dog shows me how desperate and scared the Lindley campaign is. I find these accusations insulting and hurtful. As a dog owner and as my daughters claim, doggy daddy, I find these claims especially hurtful. I did it because it was the right thing to do. The dog in the ice reminded me of the dog my late wife wanted, a Yorkie. I think there was many others willing to save the dog. I was just the first to do it."

As of today Senator Addison was now at a 47% in the polls of the GOP registered voters Michael Lindley is now at 37% (Source: Star Tribune). With the primary set for April 26th, many informed pundits think Addison will be the gubernatorial choice of the state Republican Party.

Bartlet, Fitzsimmons, Seaborn & Jenkins endorse Congressman Burrell for NY Senate

Congressman Tim Burrell who has been polling a small lead over his opponent Congresswomen Keira Briggs got a massive boost with some key endorsements at a rally in Buffalo.

With just a week until the Primary to decide who will take on unpopular Republican incumbent Jay Cruger and ahead of a live TV debate on Thursday, Burrell received a real kick in the arm with four high profile endorsements.

New Hampshire Governor Liz Bartlet, plus Senators Sam Seaborn, Senator Jimmy Fitzsimmons and Senator Dante Jenkins all appeared together to endorse Burrell should be regarded as a real coup for the Congressman. Even more in the fact that involved two men who are known not to like each other Senator's Seaborn and Fitzsimmons, but they seemed to put that bad blood behind them, well for today at least to praise Burrell.

Burrell had already received endorsements from retiring Delaware Governor Rachel de Boer, Maine Governor Paris Stray and former Wisconsin Senator Jeremy Lyons.

New York's other Senator Andrew Thorn has said right from the offset that he would "remain neutral" until after the primary election.

New Bishop of Bristol Announced

After nearly a year of deliberations the Crown Nominations Committee have announced that the Reverend Joanna Stafford, Dean of Lincoln Cathedral will succeed the Rt Reverend Simon Young as Bishop of Bristol. Dr Young retired at the end of April last year, following a heart attack in February.

The Reverend Stafford will be the first female Bishop appointed in the Church of England following their decision in 2014 to allow women priests to become Bishops. She will also be the first female Diocesan Bishop.

Reverend Stafford served as teacher for several years following university before being ordained in 2006. She then rose up the ranks, fairly rapidly, only being appointed Dean of Lincoln in 2014. She is married with one child.

This appointment is expected to meet with sadness in some quarters of the church. She will likely be enthroned sometime in the late summer or early autumn.

Qumar to hold elections in May, Ahmed not seeking another term.

Jabal Nafusa: The government of Prime Minister Zuben Ahmed announced that there will be elections in the third week of the month. These snap elections will likely keep the Reform Party in power since the coup of last year. The military has said they will not be involved in the elections.

Prime Minister Zuben Ahmed released a statement to the press:
"I have asked the Sultan to dissolve Parliament on Monday April 18th, as to ensure we can tear up for elections on the 19th of May. These elections will take place before the executions of the traitorous ministers at the end of May.

Prime Minister Ahmed also announced he will not be returning to office after the election.

"I have decided that this will be my final term as Prime Minister and I have discussed this with my party and they have picked a candidate to succeed me in this election. Hasan Farra, Minister of Foreign Affairs will succeed me as my party's candidate. I will serve as Prime Minister until my successor has been elected.

With Ahmed out of the running many are wondering what will the Reform Party's campaign be with Hassan Farra an MP from Tashken as candidate? No one is certain as Mr. Farra's big issue will be. But local media claim Mr. Farra wants to take over Shareef Oil and make sure it's profits are used to modernize Qumar.

Norwich Mayoral candidates clash in heated debate

Norwich Mayor Alan Newman of the "East Anglian Devolution" Party and those trying to prevent his second term clashed in a TV debate last night show on the BBC in the East last night.

Newman who won the election four years by just over 1,600 votes is locked in a bitter battle with the Conservatives Charles Trett, the Leader of the Conservative group on Norwich City Council and the Labour Party's Gemma Robson who finished third four years ago.

Trett called Newman a "egomaniac" and was using Norwich as a practice ground for his "weird nutty policies" and that the EAD had developed into a cult around Newman adding "thanks to the Conservatives and I have to say Labour we were able to block his more outlandish plans such as a congestion charge to drive into the City Centre, and plans to build his own statue in the Castle Grounds".

Newman hit back claiming that both the "Conservatives and Labour were the old guard who didn't want to change anything" and attacked Trett as a "a man that would like to turn the clock back to 1950 if he could".

Gemma Robson, a former Nurse seemed to hold back on attacking Trett whilst again throwing everything she had at Newman "Everything you do, makes the likelihood of the East getting more powers less likely because of the way you have acted as Mayor".

The Liberal Democrats candidate Graham Thurlow, a lecturer at the UEA, tried to talk about policy but struggled to get much of a look in as did the Green Party's Carol Woodhouse, the National Peoples Party's Anthony Peach and Independent Thomas Manning.

Burrell wins in a landslide to secure NY Democratic Senate nomination

Congressman Tim Burrell swept to a landslide win over Congresswomen Keira Briggs to easily secure the Democratic Senate nomination and be the candidate ready to take on Republican incumbent Jay Cruger in the General Election.

Burrell won in the end with 71% of the vote to Briggs's 29%, which was far better than looked likely even a week ago, but an endorsement of some heavyweight Democratic figures and a very strong debate performance last week helped Burrell to secure a massive mandate.

In current head to head polls against Senator Cruger, all have Burrell ahead by around five to eight points.

Addison confident in MN Primary win next week.

St. Paul: The midterms will be exciting in a state that few surprise seem to come from. In Minnesota favorite Marcel Lindley is being overtaken by underdog Glenn Addison of Luverene. This is a campaign for the books. Back in March the little known state senator was on the national stage for rescuing a dog from a thawing lake.

But it was not the dog that put Addison on the top. "Glenn has been a natural at politics for years." Says his friend Dave Nordstrom of Waseca. "He is a fighter and since the death of his wife has gone more into politics before." Nordstrom says the senator is a big critic of Lindley for being three times divorced and a"big city" Republican.

"I don't campaign on family values because it gets me elected, I believe in it because the family matters most. How can a three times divorced man make that a corner stone of his platform?" Lindley said on April 5th to a crowd at the Filmore County Fairgrounds.

But what is in Addison's favor is his big differences. While a widower he has had to raise both his daughters and be supportive of them. It was why in 2013 he came out against any anti-gay legislation in the state. He said on the floor of the state senate, "My daughter told me she has never been interested in boys and I had to ask her if she felt she was gay. She told me she didn't know and I said, No matter what you I will love you for it."

Addison is garnering support from some college groups and his beleif in focusing on the "rest of the state not just the Twin Cities" is resonating across the state.

Addison's upbeat energetic attitude is different from Lindley's dry wit and more dour mood. Lindley has attacked the governor for while Lindley has said he supports many of the ideas Governor Daniels is trying to do. Lindley is also facing scandal as a three year old DUI pullover is coming to haunt him. The arresting officer in the DUI, Shokapee Police Department Officer Tom Fjord, is being indicted for the fatal shooting of a Nigerian immigrant that was a result of mistaken identity and police brutality. Mr. Lindley was pulled over before the events and his pullover is what may have led to Officer Fjord going after the immigrant a Mr. Jonathan Adaku.

Many state pollsters are already calling the GOP race for Addison but his lead is only seven points. But can Addison beat Daniels? That is what the state party is unsure of.

World still reeling from the death of Prince.

Minneapolis: The state if not the world is still reeling from the sudden death of Minnesotan musician Prince yesterday. And while the local authorities believe it was natural the sudden death of one of the state's biggest musical figures has still come as quiet a shock.

Since his death many figures from music to politics around the world has stated he was a musical icon. Sam Seaborn of California stated on Facebook. "His song was played way too much in 1999 but it was played at the first Bartlet inaugural party, even if it was a cover." Minnesota Governor Daniels gave an official state in St. Paul stating, "I liked Raspberry Beret and I enjoyed the Little Red Corvet."

The White House said,"The nation lost a great musician and the President is saddened by the sudden death a major music icon."

Globally the outpour of sadness is already flooding the Paisly Park Studios in Chanhassen.

OOC: I had Prince die as in RL, if you guys want it gone I can remove but it's more similar events happening in RL and the WW world.

Last night's Gubernatorial and Senate Primary Round-up

Gubernatorial

Delaware
As expected it will be former Senator Tom Landis against State Representative and former US Army Ranger Declan Molloy as both won uncontested primaries last night. Molloy should be the favourite, but he has not been as impressive as many hoped that he would be and he is up against Landis who is a tough campaigner.

Maryland
Another uncontested primary. Owen Wells is the Republican candidate who finally wins a national nomination after losing the Congressional primary six years ago. In theory Maryland should be a easy hold but Governor Fitzpatrick is not popular in this normally Democratic state and most polls already have Wells narrowly ahead.

Minnesota
The Republican contest to take on Governor Jarod Daniels has been a bitter one but State Senator Glen Addison beat out the 2012 nominee Marcel Lindley by 54% to 46%, a truly impressive result for man who only got into the race at the last minute two months ago. Can Addison beat Daniels, well it's going to be close, at a National level the state has started to trend towards the Republicans with President Walken carrying the state twice in 2010 and 2014, along with rising Senate star Senator Jack Hunter, this does look now being a true toss-up race.

Pennsylvania
Like Minnesota, Pennsylvania is now a state that has started to trend Republican. Republican Governor Morgan Mitchell will face off against the only Democratic candidate who stands any chance of beating him, Andy Baker, the State Attorney General, and the Nephew of Former Governor and Vice-President Eric Baker.

Rhode Island
Governor Stansberry should in theory be sweeping to re-election but Martha Atkinson is likely to give him a good run for his money. Stansberry's private life has taken over his public life, with his numerous affairs with movie stars and socialites plus his outspoken ex-wife who takes almost very chance she can to attack him. Atkinson in contrast is happily married but with no children, a former advisor to President Lassister she retired from politics when he left office in 1999 before running a business in Asia in the late 2000's and has been state party Chair since 2012. She could be an interesting counter-point to Stansberry.

Senate

Connecticut
She is back, yes former Governor Louise Northman-Page has returned. One of the most controversial Governors in recent years has certainly moderated her comments in the last few months. She believes she was the victim of some very unfair reporting and was betrayed by some in her administration. Actually she has a point that her record on job creation and improving Educational standards in her four years as Governor was very good, the problem is that the message got lost, now she is shouting that record for the rooftops against Senator Chris Casey. Casey has one eye on the 2018 Presidential race and would prefer an easy re-election but with an opponent like Northman-Page he certainly isn't going to get that.

Maryland
Senator Dan Kalmbach is the most unlikely Republican Senator in a strong Democratic State, but five times he has won election, now he does face a real battle against someone as popular as him, former two term Governor Joe Derrick. Derrick has the record and the personality for unseating Kalmbach, the dream of the Democratic Senate Leadership, this could well a real nail bitter of an election.

Pennsylvania
An amazing night in Pennsylvania as the three way race of the Republicans to replace former Senate Majority Leader Robert Royce ended in a very narrow win for former Congressman Travis Hoyt with 34.7% of the vote against Hayden Nestor with 33.9% and Joe Bruno with 31.4%.
As for the Democrats it was a lot more straightforward with Congressman Matt Clausen easily beating Congressman Erica Greenwood, 61.6% to 38.4%.
Clausen has a real chance despite the State trending towards the Republicans, but it is a real chance for the Democrats to make a big gain and dent the Republicans hopes of winning back the Senate.

Addison jubilant after primary victory.

Luverene: Outside of the Addison farmhouse the jubilant state senator, Glenn Addison met the national and state press and made a victory speech. Addison said to the press that "I congratulated Mr. Lindley on his attempt and would like to invite him to my home here in Luverne to show there is no bad blood between us. I know Mr. Lindley fought hard but I will welcome him into helping me beat Daniels in the fall."

Governor Daniels said that he wished Mr. Lindley well but he has said his people are prepared to bunker down for Addison's barnstorming tactics and are waiting to see whom the state GOP is going to pick for Addison's running mate. Most doubt it will Mr. Lindley with the rumors aiming towards Cloquet mayor Sam Maagarden or St. Cloud mayor Linda Ng.
