Zero Dark Thirty is a fair portrayal of the killing of Abdul Sharif
Review by Nancy McNally

It is very hard to see your self portrayed on the movie screen, but I have to go through this rather strange experience with the release of Zero Dark Thirty.

As a former senior member of the Bartlet administration I was first asked by the director Kathryn Bigelow and writer Mark Boal to read over a first draft of the script. To be the first draft was pretty good although I was able to suggest changes, and on the decision making from the decision making point of view.

Before filming got underway I was asked to meet with Penny Johnson Gerard who portrays me in the movie and I think we both enjoyed the experience. Once filming got underway I was asked as well to be present during the filming of some the key scenes set in the White House Situation Room. The set that was built for the movie was amazing and it was like being back there again.
As for the historical accuracy of the film, I would say that when you condense such a complex event that took place over a couple of months into two and half hours, some things are naturally going to get condensed or left out, but I will say that the writer Mark Boal got the key details correct from the point of view of which I can speak about. Of course I cannot comment on those scenes in the movie because I wasn't present in for example the scenes between Admiral Fitzwallace and Leo McGarry and one of the other key scenes between President Bartlet and his Daughter Liz.

As for the action parts of the film I cannot really comment, although they are tense and well staged. As for the comments made by the current Qumari Government that Abdul Sharif was innocent, he wasn't he was a threat to world peace and a terrorist. The film leaves no one in any doubt of that and that is a good thing.

Nancy McNally served as National security Advisor during the Bartlet Administration from 1999 to 2007. She served as UN Ambassador during the Santos Administration from 2007 to 2011.

Election 2015: Mid-Race Analysis Part V

In what is perhaps will be the wackiest race in this of this election cycle, the 3-way race between Incumbent Paul Chang (D), and challengers State Senate Minority Leader Walter Collins (R) and former Senator Ericka "Rickey" Rafferty (S).

With Rafferty jumping into the race as a socialist, Paul Chang has been cutoff at the knees, so to speak, with Rafferty sweeping up the far-left base, meaning that Chang will be forced towards the center, dividing the Democratic vote. At the same time, Oregon's Democratic Heavyweights, Senior Senator Robert Grey and Congressman Will Bailey have remained silent, refusing to endorse, or even discuss the Oregon Governor's Race. There is also a rumor floating about that Will Bailey, who represents the more moderate/conservative wing of the Democratic Party, is considering endorsing the Republican Nominee Walter Collins.

Walter Collins continues to poll well, as he has brought in the famous Bruno Gianelli to run his campaign. Gianelli at the helm and a possible Will Bailey endorsement in the works, Walter Collins is charging towards victory in November.

Fisk looks to retake lead in Mississippi, takes moderate stance on Gun Control

Gulfport, Mississippi- Mississippi's Gulf Coast today, Democratic Gubernatorial Nominee, Alan Fisk, took a moderate/conservative stance on the subject of gun control. Fisk stated that he supports the rights of legal gun owners, and believe that the right to own a weapon is a fundamental American right. He also went on to say that background checks, especially as it pertains to criminality and mental health, are also necessary. "Without background checks, criminals would be also to walk into any gun store and legally buy both guns and ammunition".

In order to silence critics, Fisk also went on to talk about the need to crackdown on illegal gun trafficking within the state of Mississippi, stating that even with background checks, criminals will still have access to guns "until the gunrunners that plague Mississippi's backcountry at put down like the vial scum that they are"

Fisk will continue to campaign along the Gulf Coast until Friday, when he will travel north to Delaware to attend the funeral of friend. He plans to resume his campaign on Monday

Rafferty lays out Socialist Party agenda

In a press release this morning, former Senator and Socialist Candidate for Governor of Oregon, laid out her election platform.

1- If elected Governor, Rafferty has announced that she will use executive action to stop the enforcement of the Controlled Substances Act within the state of Oregon. Rafferty claims that the police have used the CSA to use "harass and persecute" minorities. She has also stated that like Marijuana, which is already legal in Oregon, she will use executive action to legalize all drugs, claiming that laws prohibiting them unfairly target minorities.

2- Rafferty has promised to "expel all white heterosexual males" from state government, stating that she will only hire women, homosexuals or racial minorities. She will also push for greater use of affirmative action within the Oregon University system.

3- elimination of all meat products from Oregon stores over a 2-year period, and a removal of all non-Vegan products over a 5-year period

4- elimination of all fossil fuels over a 10-year period

5- the defunding of all local and state police agencies, as well as the Oregon National Guard.

Rafferty lays out Socialist Party agenda

She has literally become a parody of herself. I don't think she was like that when she appeared in the TV show, what's happened to her since 2006? I genuinely think she's an annoying strawman of herself by this point, even if it will be fun to see how that plays out.

Collins opens up, slams Rafferty & Chang on "Law & Order"

Salem, Oregon- In a speech to supporters in Salem today, Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Walter Collins slammed both Socialist nominee Rickey Rafferty and incumbent Democrat Paul Chang on what he termed "Law & Order". In a firebrand speech, Collins lambasted Rafferty, calling for her to be prosecuted for her connection to the assassination of Portland Police Officers Ryan Buchanan and Steven Cross this past January. He went even further, citing Chang's close political relationship with Portland Mayor Mitch de Sarro, who's backing of anti-police protesters led to the unchecked rioting last summer.

The speech will undoubtedly set fire to Oregon's political landscape, as Collins attempts to tape into what President Nixon termed "the Silence Majority", using "Law & Order" as his main campaign theme

BREAKING NEWS

Will Bailey endorses Walter Collins for Governor

images

Salem, Oregon- Earlier today in a join appearance with Republican Gubernatorial nominee: State Senate Minority Leader Walter Collins, Rep. Will Bailey, a Democrat, and considered the leader of the Conservative Wing of the Democratic Caucus, formally endorsed Collins for Governor.

"Four years ago, Paul Chang said he wanted to become Governor in order to advance the "progressive agenda" here in Oregon. In the past 4 years, we have seen the greatest polarization of both sides here in Oregon in our state's history. Chang has stated numerous times that he is the "Progressive Governor" and the "Progressive's Champion". Well i have news for you Governor. The Governor needs to be the Governor of all the people in our great state, not just those who agree with you.

Oregon needs a Governor that will bridge the Partisan divide, not deepen it. Oregon needs a Governor that will face problems head on. Oregon needs a Governor that will admit when he is wrong, and not use the phrase "It's the Republican's fault" as his default excuse. Most importantly, Oregon needs a Governor that will stand shoulder to shoulder with our Police, our Fire Departments, and our First Responders. These brave men and women are our everyday heroes, and it's high time we had a Governor that understands that.

This past January, the family of the Portland Police Department was struck a terrible blow, when the lives of two of there own where tragically taken from them. And while Paul Chang seems to want to throw this aside, the rest of us will not. On January 11th, Portland Police Officers Ryan Buchanan and Steven Cross were ASSASSINATED. And this was not the act of a lone gunman, but a build up of the months of anti-police rioting and propaganda sponsored and supported by the likes of Governor Chang, Mayor Di Sarro and Rickey Rafferty.

If Rickey Rafferty or Paul Chang win on Election Day, i fear that the next four years will be even far worse than the last.

As Senate Minority Leader, Walter Collins has never been in the majority. that fact alone meant that he had to build a coalition around every bill he wanted to pass. As Governor, Walter Collins will continue to be a coalition builder, he will take steps to heal the partisan divide. Paul Chang seems to think that there are two Oregons: 1 for Liberals, and 1 for everyone else. Walter Collins, will be the Governor of one Oregon, one that will bring us all together, not drive us apart. He doesn't see "Democratic" or "Republican" ideas, he only sees good and bad ideas.

Today, it is my honor to formally endorse Senator Walter Collins for Governor of Oregon.

Butler tells Christian right to "turn the page on gay marriage"

Rev Ethan Butler has told the leadership of the ACA to "turn the page on gay marriage" saying there stance was hurting the party.

"Personally you all know where I stand on this issue, but we have to accept that every time you mention it, it just plays into the hands of the Democrats and the extreme Liberals in the press".

The decision by Butler who is basically in a dead heat in the race to unseat South Carolina's Democratic Governor Nate Singer is another move that he is trying to distance himself from the hard Christian right of the Republican party.

"Gay marriage is not the only issue you need to be talking about, abortion, yes but we need to be saying more on the numbers of children born into poverty and living on the streets, and the numbers of our veterans who fall into poverty, that is a Christian issue, and one we need to be talking about".

Katzenmoyer "I have cancer"

Former Wisconsin Governor Mark Katzenmoyer announced Saturday that he has prostrate cancer.

Katzenmoyer left office as Wisconsin Governor in January with a 88% approval rating had been expected to run for President in 2018, but this announcement seems to have ruled him out of any nomination race. Most polls had shown him as the most serious contender for the Democratic nomination against the favourite Californian Senator Sam Seaborn.

Fmr. Gov Phil Prior to announce 2016 bid tomorrow

Austin, Texas- Breaking News of Texas, as ACN can inform you that several sources are telling us that Former Republican Governor Phil Prior will announce his 2016 run tomorrow. Prior, who served as Governor from 2009-2013, lost in his re-election bid in 2012 to former 2-term Senator and former Vice President John Hoynes. Hoynes, a moderate to conservative Democrat, has been very popular during term as Governor of the Lone Star State. Last month, Hoynes announced that he would not seek re-election, choosing instead to retire on a high note.

At this juncture, Prior appears to have little to no opposition in the Republican primary, which is still a long ways off.

"Band of Brothers" Donald Malarkey endorses Collins

images
images

Astoria, Oregon- Earlier today, ret. Technical Sergeant Donald G. Malarkey, a member of the legendary "Easy Company" of "Band of Brothers" fame, endorsed fellow Oregonian and Army Veteran Walter Collins. While Malarkey served as US Army Paratrooper during the Second World War, Collins served for 9 years active duty in the US Army's Aviation Branch, and he continues to serve to this day as a Reservist. Collins was first a UH-1 Huey Gunship pilot, seeing action during the US' 1983 Invasion of Grenada, and later, was one of the first to pilot the US Army's AH-64 Apache Gunship. He also saw action during Operation Just Cause in 1989 and Operation Desert Storm in 1990-1991, during which time he was elected to the State Senate, despite not heavily campaigning for the seat, due to his being overseas at the time of the election

(AH-64 piloted by then Captain Collins during Operation Desert Storm in 1991)

During his endorsement, Malarkey cited not only Collins' military service, but also his commitment to Oregon's military veterans, as well as, as Malarkey put it, "commitment to the common man".

Collins is currently sweeping ahead in the polls, leading far ahead of incumbent Democrat Paul Chang and Socialist Candidate Ericka "Rickey" Rafferty
