Sultan Hessani to address the nation

In the wake of the Bahji terror strikes, Sultan Manab bin Hessani will address the nation from the University of Qumar to condemn the Bahji zealots. He stressed that the terror strikes were performed only by a small portion of the population and will be brought to justice as quickly as possibly. He also expressed sympathy to the families of the victims of the attacks, and best wishes to recovering Prime minister Zuben Ahmed. Rumor also has it that the Sultan also tried to call her majesty, in addition to President Walken and Prime Minister Carter.

During a preliminary news conference, Qumari Intelligence revealed that the Sultan was most likely also on the list but as he was in China negotiating a trade agreement with President Lian, was out of the range of the terrorists attack. The Sultan is currently flying back to the palace

I am a bit murky on parliamentary procedure. If the PM is incapacitated who succeeds temporarily?

President Walken as he addresses the nation

President Glen Walken: Good afternoon everyone, please be seated. As you all likely know, at 6:12 am eastern standard time, the United States embassy in Qumar was bombed, in which and in the aftermath of, 43 American citizens were killed, and 21 more were injured, 4 of which remain in critical condition. This attacked happened 12 minutes after another bomb went off in front of the British embassy in Qumar. Following the attacks, the terrorist group that has long since hated the American way of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness known as the Bahji have taken credit for the attacks. This is the same group that was caught plotting to blow up the golden gate bridge, and that kidnapped Zoey Bartlet. I wish to reassure the nation and world at large, this attack will not go without retribution. The United States of America will not stand idly by as our people are slaughtered by thugs with no country to call their own. We will not kneel before the might of terror. We will fight it. And we will prevail, as we always have. My administration has worked closely today with congressional leaders and the governments of NATO in formulating a strong and secure form of response. At 4:36 pm eastern standard time, I authorized the American military to bomb long known Bahji operation camps in southeastern Qumar. The US Air Force was joined in this attack in complete and total cooperation with the British Government and Prime Minister Carter's decision to launch an aerial attack as well. I cannot thank the Prime Minister for his efforts and help in the process we endured today. As further evidence presents itself, the American people can count on their representatives in congress and myself to make the correct choices to defend this country from the forces of tyranny and terror. Thank you for your time.

Illinois special election to be held on July 19th

Governor Andrew Cordy (D-IL) announced today that the special election to fill the rest of former Senator Jack Enlow's term will be held on tuesday, July 19th. In January, Enlow was forced to resign when he was indicted on charges of assault and battery. Cordy then appointed former commerce secretary and chairman of the council of economic advisers Mitch Bryce to the seat.

Bryce has since confirmed that he plans to run in the special election, whenever it was to be held, to finish the term. It's unclear if he plans to run for a full term in 2014. No democrat has announced any plans to challenge him, and it would likely be folly. His approval ratings currently sit at 59%, and voters approve of Cordy's appointment of him by a 72-21 proportion.

On the republican side however, Attorney general Landon Reese could make a play for the seat, and he's pretty popular. But be on the watch for congressmen Austin Cohen (R-IL-6) and Jasper Irving (R-IL-8). Both are rising stars in the state looking for a chance to break out.

Qumari Parliamentary Guard mobilized.

In the wake of the terror strikes the Sultan has asked Acting Prime Minster Fakhour to mobilize the Parliamentary Guard to secure the city of Har-e-Garbrik, which in recent months have been a hotbed of Bahji terror activities. The MP for the Garbik seat in the Qumari Parliament Jafar ibn Shareef, has denounced the "imperialist actions of the West" and calls for " the overthrow of Sultan Manab bin Hessani" following his consolidation of power following Zuben Ahmed's incapacitation.

Ever since the bombings the city of Har-e-Garbik has been the site of 25,000 person pro-Bahji demonstration in Mussawir square.

At present the Kalifa Air Base, located 50 miles West of Har-e-Garbik, on the Straight of Hormuz, is not believed to be in danger.

Adair won't run for a 5th term

In recent weeks, both the DSCC and the NRSC have been pressuring their members to decide sooner rather than later if they will be seeking another term. Andrew Thorn and Harry Proctor, respectively, are looking at a very large senate map for next year and have made clear that they want to know so that they can plan and recruit candidates.

William Wiley became the first to answer the call by declaring his intention to run for an unprecedented 6th term. Then last week George Wirth announced he wouldn't seek another term. And now Ohio senator August Adair announced he wouldn't run either. Adair has faced lagging poll numbers as of late, likely due to Ohio's stubbornly high unemployment level of 11.4%.

However, his decision gives Thorn among other prominent democrats hope for holding the seat now. Two top name democrats are the center of attention for everyone. Congresswoman and former governor Josie Bail and congressman Justin Willis. Both of whom have high statewide approval ratings, and they look the best in matchups against top republicans like state secretary of state Dylan Garrison and millionaire film director Anderson Cano.

Hey Everybody I'm Back!!

My apologies for the abrupt disapearance, I have had quite a bit of personal things to work out in the past several months but I'm proud to say that I am indeed back. During my absence I have done my best to keep up on the site and I have done quite a bit of back reading to make sure I didn't miss any details. So.. In the words of President Bartlet "What's Next?!":)

Well that's good.

It's really annoying when you disappear with absolutely no explanation of where you went or how long you'll be gone. Apology accepted.

Middle East Leaders Decry Attack on Western Embassies and Qumar Parliament
Thursday, May 5, 2011

Mere hours after the United States and United Kingdom Embassies in Qumar were simultaneously attacked, as well as the Qumari Parliament building, leaders of other Middle Eastern nations were quick to attack the Bahji criminal organization.

Outgoing Palestinian President Saeb Mukarat held a press conference condemning the Bahji and citing his own opposition to Hamas and the Palestinian peoples close ties as British and American allies. President of Afghanistan Nasima Gula wrote on her Twitter wishing the injured Zuben Ahmed (Prime Minister of Qumar) a speedy recovery.

UN Secretary-General Usuf Habib, himself a native of Pakistan, which has reportedly had Bahji ties in the past, has reportedly been in close contact with the US and UK governments following the terrorist bombings and during the retaliatory strikes by the Western governments. Habib has stayed out of the press the past 24 hours, despite his presence as a high-ranking Muslim official on the world stage.

Crown Prince Bitar of Saudi Arabia and Ayatollah Afkham of Iran were among those who joined some in the Qumari Parliament in criticizing the "Imperialistic attacks" on Qumar following the terrorist attacks. Most other Middle Eastern figures have made limited or no statements on the events.
