IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!:eek::eek:

And I know everyone is going to hate me for this, but here is the Grandson of President Bartlet, Gus Westin (now some 13 years old).

That unknown actor is far too old. Gus was five years old in the 2003 Christmas episode ("Abu el Banat").

Why don't we stick with the original actor (Michael Krepack). He's a whole lot cheaper and hasn't worked since 2006.

1980 is the cut off, Ronnie Reagan is the same, but Bush is different... everthing is the same until this point....

okay then, heres something that i'm coming up with on the spot for TTL's George P Bush.

Politicalbios.com

George Phillipson Bush 1928-Present

George P Bush was born on September 10, 1928 in Rye New York, the eldest son of Oil Magnate Roger Bush. He is distantly related on his mothers side to the Pierce family and on his fathers side to both the Bartlett and Rockeffeler families. He grew up in Greenwich Connecticut and attended prep schools. In 1946 despite being a shoe-in for Ivy Leage schools he decided to serve a tour in the army and was stationed in post-war Germany. In 1950 he was discharged and attended Princeton and Yale where he was a member of Skull and Bones. After marrying Allison Roosevelt in 1958 he moved to Bowling Green Kentucky to oversea that branch of his father's business empire. In 1966 during a wave election year for Republicans Bush was elected to congress despite charges of being a carpetbagger. He served five terms in congress and although a moderate new england Republican was forced to the right by his constituents. In 1975 he briefly considered running for president, challenging Gerald Ford for the nomination but tragedy struck when his eldest son who was estranged from the family George Jr died of a cocaine overdose in Mexico. He declined to run for reelection to be with his family until 1978 when he was convinced to run for Governor and won. With a come from behind story Bush was selected as Reagens runingamte in 1980.

In 1985 crises struck when Reagen had his stoke. Bush was vacationing with his family at there Martha's Vinyard retreat when news of the stroke struck, he quickly returned to Washington and was expecting to be sworn in as president but found he was unable to because Reagen was still alive and had never signed his letter under the 25th amendment transferring power to his successor in case of emergency. The nation quickly found itself in a constitutional crises until the bipartisan special elections movement gained ground. Bush himself was considered unelectable due to his role in covering up President Reagen's increasingly poor health and therefore quietly assumed the duties of acting President until D Wire Newman was elected. The scandal surrounding the cover-up of Reagen's ill health combined with congressional investigations into the Iran-Contra scandal helped D Wire Newman defeat Joseph Furman. On January 20, 1987, due to Reagen's ill health President-elect Newman became the first incoming President in over a century to not ride to the capital with his predecessor as Reagen was still in a coma and in the IC Unit at Georgetown hospital. Reagen would later come out of the coma never realizing that he was no longer President before his death in 1992. Newman rode to the capital with his wife and Bush as outgoing VP rode with incoming Vice-President Pierce. After leaving DC Bush retired to Martha's Vinyard, writting several books and serving as a goodwill ambassador for Presidents Lassiter and Bartlett. After taking a break for several years currently he is being considered for a similar post within the Walken administration.

After leaving DC Bush retired to Martha's Vinyard and spent the rest of his life in obscurity, giving few interviews until his death of lung cancer on February 21, 1999. He was burried at the family plot in Greenwich, CT and it was the first major state funeral of the Bartlett presidency.

Actually can we change it to that he is still alive, I was planning on giving him a post-presidency career similar to Nixon. If he need to explain Bush's lack of appearance at Lassiter's funeral we can say he was in diplomatic conferences at the time and could not make it back to Lassiter's funeral?

Sure, i'll go back and edit it.

Actually he could have been at Lassiter's funeral but not have ridden on Air Force One with Bartlett, Walken and Newman since he was never technically sworn in as president.

Alex Moreau to be appointed NASA Administrator

President Bartlet infamous for lack of involvement with NASA, to the point of even forgetting his own appointment to NASA administrator Jobson, and only meeting Administrator Kelwick only twice. Besides President Santos supporting Project Constellation, from Sellner's attempt to effectively end manned spaceflight in the 2007-2008 budget, he has expressed little interest in space flight. In contrast the new Vice President Liz Clark, has been heavily involved in Space affairs, and even attended several launches at Canaveral. Today the Walken transition team has announced their choice for Kelwick in the new administration, Alex Moreau

Alex Moreau was on Dr. Kelwick's brief public campaign for "Mars or Bust". Since Kelwick's program got the rebuffed, Moreau left NASA for the Planetary Society, and has become a noted critic on Santos' Space Policy. We at Air and Space Magazine look forward to what Moreau can do as the head of NASA, and hope that she will give us as many interviews as she wrote columns for our magazine

For those unaware Alex Moreau was the assistant administrator for NASA who met Josh, and showed him the telescope.

For those space enthusiasts out there, think of Moreau like a Robert Zubrin analogue. and with Project Constellation up and running as a foundation she could get Mars or Bust at least stated...

Walken unveils vision for moon and beyond

Saying "the desire to explore and understand is part of our character," President-elect Walken Sunday unveiled an ambitious plan to return Americans to the moon by 2030 or earlier and use the mission as a steppingstone for future manned trips to Mars and beyond.

"We do not know where this journey will end, yet we know this -- human beings are headed into the cosmos," Walken said. "Mankind is drawn to the heavens for the same reason we were once drawn into unknown lands and across the open sea. We choose to explore space because doing so improves our lives and lifts our national spirit." He outlined a number of proposed projects including the Altair lander, which was cancelled in President Santos's budget, which he suggested would be revived and was supportive of a proposed partnership between JAXA, the Japanese space agency, and NASA.

Walken's support for the space program has drawn both support and skepticism. Space enthusiasts, including many science fiction writers, had the most positive reactions, saying that space exploration was more important than ever as new evidence of the possibility of life elsewhere in our Solar System continues to make news.

Unveiled 37 years since man was last on the moon, Walken says the project would improve lives, lift spirits and give a new sense of purpose to the U.S. space program, which is still haunted by the Patriot Shuttle scandal.

"We will give NASA a new focus and vision for future exploration. We will build new ships to carry man forward into the universe, to gain a new foothold on the moon to prepare for new journeys to the worlds beyond our own," Walken said. Vice President Liz Clark has been especially supportive of space flight, and says that she is "One hundred per cent" behind what she called President-elect Walken's "Bold new vision" for the future of space flight. "This will be the most pro-active administration with regards to space exploration since the days when John F. Kennedy declared his promise to put a man on the Moon," Clark said. "Countries like China have been racing ahead while we stood still. It's time to get moving again."

Baker "Deeply Hurt" By Cousin's Actions, Denies Further Involvement
271002.jpg

Rep. Roger Baker (R-MI) speaking to reporters
Monday, Dec. 6, 2010

Auburn Hills, Michigan-In his first public statement since the arrest of his cousin Gerald McCoy II, Congressman Roger Baker (R) says that he is "Deeply hurt and saddened" by his behavior and denied any involvement in the various crimes that Mr. McCoy has been charged with.

"This is a black mark on our entire family," Baker said early Monday. "I have no excuse or explanation for why Gerry did what he did, but I hope that he will now be able to get the help he so obviously needs." Baker went on to say that he still expects to be "Fully vindicated" with regards to his own involvement in the ongoing investigation of the Penetrobe lobbying scandal and praised President-elect GlennAllen Walken for returning his campaign donations. He would not comment on rumors that the Justice Department was also considering investigating the death of reporter Matt Newkirk, who died during the Mexico City earthquake under what some have claimed are suspicious circumstances.
________

Sounds like Baker just threw his cousin under the bus...

Commentary time (sorry)... but there's an actual article tagged on at the end if you want to skim by it all:

Is Reagen the same Reagen then, what about Carter, At what point do OTL politicians cease to exist and become WWUniverse ones?

1980 is the cut off, Ronnie Reagan is the same, but Bush is different... everthing is the same until this point....

Sorta kinda. Around 1830 (due to Prometheus_2300's family trees) is the *ultimate* cut-off. Everything before that should be our timeline all the way. Small changes, mostly just individual people, begin entering the "timestream" after that, and it all just explodes into an almost entirely different world around 1985.

So no, "In 14 BC, Emperor Augustus was succeeded by Emperor Josias Bartletus in a bloodless coup" talk.

Tim, ...continuing my gangsta talk joke... I have a pair of quibbles (... weird lexicological talk ...) with the Leo sidebar. First, when did he serve in the House?

According to the sidebar, 1987 to 1989.

It was never mentioned on the show. And his name was never Leopold, it was always just Leo.

Leopold is either wiki-vandalism or a birth name that McGarry (rightfully) dropped at an early age. C.J. jokingly referred to him as "Leopold" once on the show (The Midterms), but like "Tobias Ziegler" he was never referred to by Leopold in any future, more likely situations.

Mark Hamil as Senator Ryan Lyndell

So, will Senators Lyndell, Avery, and Senator-elect Straus be traveling together cross-country anytime soon? I'm guessing they might oppose some of Senator Wiley's legislation.

We better hope UK Conservative Sir George Kelvan doesn't get involved.

Am I the only one who noticed that Leo's successor as Labor Secretary is Shirley Freaking Temple?!

I noticed :). It was a joke (like Michael Moore and putting him in RL Dan Rostenkowski's seat) that I didn't know anyone would notice and didn't think would effect the storyline.

Of course, RL Shirley Temple was quite the politico in OTL. I don't know what her labor policies were, but she'd be a good choice for fellow Californian Lassiter after McGarry's resignation. The news day would be like this "Labor Secretary Leo McGarry may have just resigned due to allegations of alcohol abu... wait... Reports are coming in that President Lassiter plans on appointing former child starlet and Ambassador Shirley Temple Black as Labor Secretary."

So here's the list of Secretaries of Labor from, I guess Leo (too lazy to make a sidebar or succession box like Tim).

Leo McGarry, 1991-1996 (D-IL) Lassiter
Shirley Temple Black, 1996-1999
* (R-CA) Lassiter
Carl Reid, 1999-2002 (D-MI
**) Bartlet
Jack Buckland, 2002-2007 (D-IL) Bartlet
Mike Jackson, 2007-2011 (D-ND
***) Santos
George "Hawk" Fuller, 2011 (R-KY) Walken

*-I assume she finished out Lassiter's second term
**-since I haven't found a source as to which state Reid is from, I'm putting him in Michigan
***-Since Jackson was a Senator in 2002, I put him in North Dakota, so that he serves at least a term before being defeated by Jon Rinier in 2004.

Reid hasn't been mentioned in the thread, so Michigan seems as good as any other state. I actually went over Mike Jackson's Senate service in an early post. I kept him as New York (as has been established a little on this thread), but he was a one-term Senator in the '80s. He was a lobbyist and campaign politico in 2002 when he met with the Stackhouse. It would still be proper to refer to him as "Senator" long after the fact, and both Stackhouse and Jackson did serve together for some time.

For those unaware Alex Moreau was the assistant administrator for NASA who met Josh, and showed him the telescope.

I think everybody knows who Alex Moreau is. What? No? Well they should.

I'll do this article idea that's in my head and then a short NASA Administrator list. Kevin Kline will not be involved.

Former Prime Minister Fights Off Mugger
Monday, December 6th, 2010

BRISTOL – At 5:30 AM yesterday, as Former Prime Minister Ricky Meyer went out for his morning jog, he was attacked as he passed over the Clifton Suspension Bridge. The attacker, unidentified by police at press time, reportedly did not recognize the 60-year-old Meyer. He pulled a knife on Meyer which was swatted away before a quick uppercut knocked the attacker down, where Meyer pinned him down before the nearby toll operator arrived to assist and called the local constabulary.

Meyer joked with reporters, stating "Johnny needs to work on his law enforcement," referring to current Prime Minister, and Meyer's successor as Labour leader, John Green. Ambulances arrived on the scene, although Meyer was unharmed in the altercation. The attacker had a broken nose and was booked by police.

Also the new Governor of Washington state as well, Governor Sean Boone no-one has recognised him when I cast him..... another Star Wars connection....

In the UK at the current time Meyer would be arrested for assault!!!!

Well the Governor of Washington and Senator-designate from California, as well as the President of Ireland can all have their own little adventure too. I guess.

In the UK at the current time Meyer would be arrested for assault!!!!

I think the police report might say "the attacker attempted to injure Mr. Meyer's fist with a head-but, but did not succeed."

ETA: Here's the last three (or rather, last two), NASA Administrators:
NASA.png

Peter Jobson - in a surprising revelation to me, was actually mentioned twice. Once as a NASA "Mission Commander" (where he was critical to the story of "What Kind of Day Has it Been") and then again, a couple months later as "NASA Chief Administrator" ("Galileo"). So... implied advancement of a very minor character within this world. I'm truly impressed. I had to work around how that could be possible, so he's an Acting Administrator, which might help why Bartlet didn't know who he was (that and the fact that Bartlet jokingly doesn't know who anybody is).

In a not-so-subtle jab at Dale D. Myers, I used an image of Andrew Divoff for Jobson. Kelwick (David Grant Wright) and Moreau (Christina Chang) appeared on the show.

During Surprise Trip to Kazakhstan, Santos Thanks U.S. Troops for Their Service

President Santos personally thanked U.S. troops for their service during a surprise trip to Kazakhstan on Sunday ahead of his planned trip to Lisbon.

In a speech to several thousand Marines, Santos declared that the troops made important progress in their mission.

"Through your efforts, the people of Kazakhstan now have a freer, more stable country that is at peace with its neighbors," President Santos said.

The White House says that the planned withdrawal of U.S. troops is moving according to schedule. U.S. troops were first sent into Kazakhstan as part of a peacekeeping force authorized by President Bartlet shortly before the end of his second term.

Luevano Confirmed As Attorney General Nominee, Fox At Education

President-Elect Glen Walken continued to unveil his cabinet today by confirming that Florida State’s Attorney Ellen Luevano would be nominated as Attorney General and that Missouri Senator Ron Fox was his choice for Secretary of Education.

Walken also confirmed that Idaho Senator Chris Carrick would be Secretary for the Interior, meaning that most of the top line cabinet positions are now filled. The President-Elect confirmed that he intended to confirm the remaining positions by the end of the week.

Luevano was not even mentioned as a contender until the last few weeks but after a meeting with Caleb Burgess and then with Walken she seems to have won over the key figures in the incoming administration. At 46 Luevano was seen by many as likely future candidate for Governor, and had also been suggested as a potential cross party Supreme Court nominee when President Santos appointed Edward Appleton to the bench.

As State’s Attorney Luevano is on record criticizing activist judges saying that “the role of a judge is to apply the law, not to twist it to suit their political preference”, a statement that is likely to play a role in her confirmation hearing.

Ron Fox has focused much of his time as a Senator focused on education reform, and spent his early years teaching and before running for office sat on the State Education Board in Missouri.

Chris Carrick’s appointment is likely to raise some hackles in the Democratic Party. Carrick, a longtime Democrat, switched parties after a row with the White House over military funding. There has been speculation for sometime that Carrick was interested in the position after he last year became an advisor to the US National Parks Service.
