2010 Puntland Civil War?

So looking at the situation in Somalia, the end of 2010 saw a smallscale attempt by the islamists to try and take over Puntland. Somaliland pushed forward but was forced to fall back after the movement was crushed.

However, what if this islamist group managed to gather just enough momentum to propel Puntland into a civil war within the wider civil war. We can probably assume that Somaliland manages to win control of all claimed territories, but does this have any bearing on her own independence movement. What about the view from abroad given that Puntland has been one of the groups cracking down on Islamists and Pirates.

Thoughts.

Islamist takeover in Punt-land is highly unlikely .
They have not yet recovered from the massive defeat they suffered in the 1999-2000 civil war and have gone into hiding.

Puntland also does not control any of the disputed areas with Somaliland as
the territory is now mostly disputed between Somaliland and the local clans coming under the name SSC.

Puntland claims to control the area but the SSC wants independence from both Somaliland and Puntland.

Coincidentally there was a recent joint offensive and cooperation by Somaliland and Puntland to retake some border towns and the town of Talex from the SSC.

Both Somaliland and Puntland while antagonistic and having overlapping claims
view the SSC as far more dangerous and are forced to cooperate.

and both Puntland and somaliland use forces comprised from clans that live in the disputed area the "Dhulbahante" and have them within their own armed forces. The Dhulbahante clan is the clan that lives in the disputed are and
are divided into 3 political factions.

1.The SSC which wants independence from both Somaliland and Somalia and wants to be an autonomous region of Somalia.

2. The Pro Somaliland group that is integrated into Somali-lands political parties and armed forces .

3. The Pro-Punt-land group that is integrated into Punt-land.
