1) I am assuming the Democrat still wins, anyone query that?
Probably, but that depends on the nature of the Obama and Clinton scandals. If it is something like a sex scandal that is specific to the individuals involved, then the Dems probably still win with whoever they nominate. But if it's something shady in regards to finances, bribery, or campaign donations, it could tarnish the entire party. I mean, BOTH of their top-2 candidates got taken down by scandals. Top-3 if you count John Edwards. That's like the 2006 Republican congressional campaign on steroids. Even with the economy in the dumpster, I could see the Republicans pulling out a close victory. People would be disgusted with both parties and we'd set record lows for voter turnout though.
Not sure. Usually after a major scandal, parties go for the least controversial person they can think of. An elder statesman type. See Richard Nixon selecting Gerald Ford after Spiro Agnew went down. Not sure who fits that bill. Al Gore perhaps?
EDIT: Oh sorry, you said "nonscandalous." Never mind. I need to learn to read more closely.
