what other colonies would the Netherlands be able to get ith a POD in the early 19th century? OTL the Netherlands ended up with Surinam, Indonesia and the Dutch antilles. During the 19th century the Netherlands basicly just consolidated their colonies in Indonesia, not spending any atention to other areas of the world. Now I was thinking, what other colonies would the Netherlands be able to get if they were a bit stronger (by keeping Belgium or Flander or something like that) and could also focus outside of (OTL) Indonesia. I was thinking of Ghana as the Netherlands did have some outposts there at the time. I suspect some deal with Britain (and maybe Denmark) could be made and you could have a Dutch colony there. Other ideas I got are northern Borneo, eastern New Guinea or the Solomons. All are close to Indonesia, so logical expansions for the Netherlands, although I am uncertain how likely it is. Australia is close and would probably try to claim them, so how early must the Netherlands make some claim and have a presence there for Australia not to try to get them?
Any other ideas or comments about my suggestions? Please remember I am asking for a POD in the early 19th century, so no Dutch New Amsterdam suggestions (I doubt the USA would be willing to give New York to the Netherlands). Also I prefer a POD after the Vienna congress.
