What if Tonya Harding had been allowed to compete normally?? The scandal never happens, noone is hurt, and things go as originally planned.
That makes sense. She'd probably hurt the U.S. team more than help it.She falls apart and loses an edge on the triple axel, and probably at least one other jump. She always seemed to wind up with the yips.
Those things all happened OTL tbh(she spent much of the 00's boxing), so in TTL, it'd be even easier.Tonya had an outlier poor performance in the ‘94 Olympics.
With a re-roll, she most probably has a better performance, gets endorsements. She probably gets to a place where she can leave a marriage which was good in some ways but also abusive. And she’s probably even able to put some distance between herself and her mother (her mother also being pretty damn manipulative and abusive)
Maybe. It's hard leaving relationships which are great in some ways, terrible in others.. . . so in TTL, it'd be even easier.
Good for Tonya! Also, didn't Harding save someone having a heart attack in some diner years afterward? Tonya probably isn't in the diner that day and the person she save OTL dies in this TL.
Even today, a lot of people don't know that much about CPR. For example, know that adult CPR is different than child CPR.Skater Harding Uses CPR to Save Life of Woman, 81

PORTLAND, Ore. — Deposed figure skating champion Tonya Harding says she believes God was behind her decision Sunday to stop at a suburban bar near her home for a few minutes to play video poker.
Shortly after Harding and her godmother, Linda Lewis, arrived, Alice Olson, 81, collapsed and stopped breathing. Harding called 911 with her cellular phone and administered mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
"It was very, very scary," Harding said. "I kept my calm and cool and knew what I was doing. I had to do this. I thank God that I was there. Nobody else in the bar knew what to do."
Olson, who suffers from heart problems and diabetes, was treated overnight at Providence Milwaukie Hospital and released on Monday.
